Geo V Posted 4 September 2007 Posted 4 September 2007 Being a f**kwit, I dont know how to post more than one persons quote when responding to a post. So what i did was highlight the line of a post which details the time of the post and dragged the mouse cursor over to that persons name, copied it and printed into a new message and it came out with some weird stuff that doesn't initially appear on the bit that I was copying. Im not sure whether everyone knows about this stuff and I am being a bit slow on the uptake here but when when I did just highlight the aforementioned bit, I got the following copied... post Today, 12:22 AM apexgeo Rating: 5 View Member Profile Add as Friend Send Message Find Member's Topics Find Member's Posts post Today, 09:42 PM The People's... The People's Hero Rating: 3 View Member Profile Add as Friend Send Message Find Member's Topics Find Member's Posts post Today, 03:07 PM Manwell_Pablo Rating: 5 View Member Profile Add as Friend Send Message Find Member's Topics Find Member's Posts post Today, 03:02 PM The above posted on the betting thread and those were the ones I used for the test. What is that Rating thing all about?? Im sure I have confused you as I have confused myself when typing but just highlight the bit above that says "Today 22.25pm" and scroll over to the left where it has the posters name and copy it. Paste it into notepad or something and there you will find the gunge above. Confused.com Yes I am but i am glad I am a 5
lildave3 Posted 4 September 2007 Posted 4 September 2007 I have no idea how to rate posters, if that's what you're asking. If you're saying that the ratings are hidden, they're not, they're just the amount of stars a person has when you look at their profile.

I doubt it. But when you click on my username all the stuff i've put in bold is the drop down options from that. Where's LWICD when you need him eh?

Are the ratings based upon the Mods gradings of how close we are to a ban? I'm on the brink with a 5
Daggers Posted 4 September 2007 Posted 4 September 2007 I think it has something to do with chips fries
lookwhaticando Posted 4 September 2007 Posted 4 September 2007 The rating system was part of the short lived 'expanded profile' phase FoxesTalk went through a while back. Remember the days where your profile was filled with totally useless information regarding who had just read your profile, your sex, your post statistics, your 'friends' and so much more... well, back then, you could rate posters through their profiles. The rating system was lost, if I'm not mistaken, when the forum stumbled one day. After all, FT struggles at the best of times, without additional resources being required to sustain something more complex than required (knowing who had recently read your profile was a tad useless, and a bit frivolous). However, the infrastructure wasn't completely lost... the database still contains all the information stored before the advanced profiles were eradicated. And certain parts of the forum still display certain aspects of the advanced profile - your gender is still displayed in parts... and your rating also makes an appearance in certain places (click someone's username next to one of their posts and their rating should appear in the drop-down list that appears). So basically... the rating system isn't so much hidden, just no longer active... but it still hangs around as a reminder of a bygone era. ---- It is by no way moderator controlled... although sometimes I wish we could grade posters, to let people know who we think the troublemakers are. ---- Nationwider, if I'm not mistaken, was rather inactive around the time the rating system was in full force 'on' mode... hence, nobody saw fit to rate him because he was rather anonymous at the time (if he's not posting, people won't think to rate him).
potter3 Posted 4 September 2007 Posted 4 September 2007 If you look on here It tells you in stars and also tell you some other stuff like the amount of people who have viewed your profile.
Daggers Posted 4 September 2007 Posted 4 September 2007 So basically... the rating system isn't so much hidden, just no longer active... but it still hangs around as a reminder of a bygone era. Aha...so it's just like The Birch.

lildave3 Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Now the thread has been rated to confuse us more? The scoundrels.
Geo V Posted 5 September 2007 Author Posted 5 September 2007 Now the thread has been rated to confuse us more? The scoundrels. Im surprised how we managed to get 3 stars when it deserves zero.
The People's Hero Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 How come everyone is rated as 5s and 4s and yet I'm rated as 3? Actually, don't answer that. I imagine it starts with J and *almost* rhymes with leprosy.
The People's Hero Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Jumanji? 15,000 posts sir? Wowsers.
Daggers Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 15,000 posts sir?Wowsers. Look at me coo er gosh posh eh?
The People's Hero Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Look at me coo er gosh posh eh? You're a dreamboat. I could swim in your eyes for all eternity, snookums.
lookwhaticando Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 I'm completely unrated. How about that?
potter3 Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 You were rated 1 star but you took offence and removed it with your moderation powers
lookwhaticando Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 I care not for Standupandsing's opinion of me, so I wouldn't bother to remove the 1* I had. Just because I moved his silly thread...
lookwhaticando Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 ... and while I'm here... ARGH!!!! It's cue not que! Que has no place in the English language outside of some obscure Californian slang. Que is firmly rooted in the French language. I guess that makes the users of this word dirty frogs. Honestly...
Flynny Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 The ratings are easy to find in the overall top posters list. I seem to have 5 stars for some reason.
