Pete_foxes Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 I've been looking for awhile to buy Cubasis or a similar type of music software program for my computer. I was just wondering if somebody could give me advise on which version to get & which one would be the best value for money ? I obviously don't want to fork out £400 on one because I know some of them do cost that much! Cheers.
James. Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 I used Cubase Light for awhile which was a free version of the software with reduced features. It was good enough for someone just starting out and let's you get to grips with the interface. Depending on what you're trying to do you could also look at something like Fruity Loops (good for electronic music). I'm no expert but seeing as there was no response I thought I'd offer something. Bear in mind that you may well be able to find a "free" version of the full software on the internet. That's how I got my version of Fruity Loops. I imagine Cubase is out there somewhere.
Samilktray Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Fruity loops is very complicated to use, i myself use it but i struggle as its really is very complicated.

I am basicly looking to make sort of dance type music. Thanks for your help
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 I am getting into Reason 3.0 as it's supposedly the best out there and I find it easier to use a MIDI keyboard with it too, but it is pricey
Lillehamring Posted 12 September 2007 Posted 12 September 2007 if you want to do 'dancey type music' - reason is all you really need... it can be 'obtained' online - i haven't got 3.0 yet, but the version i have is great... everything here: www.tagworld.com/skfs and www.myspace.com/kitesarefunofnorway were done on reason... ...beacuse reason works in midi and has great synths you can make all jinds of sounds, tho you'll have to 'obtain' samples and loops to really have fun. there is quite a lot to reason and will be a bit daunting for the novice, also with mine you have to have a 'sound banck cd rom' which you must remember to download. to get a good sound i would recommend you also 'obtain' something like cubase, or wavelab or similar (i use nuendo 2) - then you can mix down your midi to audio and process it to make it sound super.... ...hope this helps, it's nearly half two hear... (pm me for advice - not software tho, sorry)

Its a great bit of kit and cubase is really straight forword too. Its called a lexicon alpha, got it from dolphin music.
Samilktray Posted 12 September 2007 Posted 12 September 2007 Any hints as to wear to download these ?
Lillehamring Posted 12 September 2007 Posted 12 September 2007 Any hints as to wear to download these ? um, p2p, but a lot of the files are crap, so trial and error - apparently
