Stoke Pre Match

I don't want any now. I'm warming up to Megson Mode cos there's a lot of fun to be had that I never imagined. In fact I want to see if Megson can emerge as the greatest defensive manager of all time - better, more famous and more celebrated than George Graham.

There's 40 games to go and we've scored seven goals and taken six points. If we win 20 games 1-0 that'll give us 66 points and another 15 goalless draws will lift that to 81 - enough perhaps to secure promotion.

But best of all we could surely set a record for going up with only 27 goals to our name. Mandaric would save stacks only playing one forward (strikers are always expensive) and with all this worry about having to score goals lifted from the manager's shoulders, he could spend all the training sessions working on the defensive strategy, making the team even more efficient than at present.

Surely no other club would commit so much time to the defensive side so there's a good chance we'd be different class to the rest.

The PR opportunities from DeFence would be endless. And we'd get far more publicity from a 27-goal season than with 80-odd goals like so many promotion sides.

No - let's get behind the club. Let's make "8 Til Late Leicester" something special. Something never seen before. Let's make a virtue of defence. If Joey came back perhaps he could score from the halfway line and become the first team to win a match without going into the opposition half.

Imagine that for a publicity coup. We'd make news around the world.

We could also have another catchphrase: "Our Goal is No Goals".

Get behind Megson was the plea and I'm warming to the bloke."

Attacking always was risky.

Its uneducated posts like that which not only exaggerate GMs style of management but help poison peoples minds on how negative he will be with this team.

You make football sound so easy and rosey and that teams like ours should forget about defence or 1-0 wins but go out and hammer sides in every game, home and away as 1-0 away wins just aren't good enough.

For your information, Birmingham, who came 2nd last season notched up 10 1-0 wins, Derby who came up via the play-offs managed 12 1-0s whilst Champions Sunderland only managed 5 with quite a few 2-0s and 2-1s.

We will need 1-0 wins if we are to progress and only someone with half a footballing brain would think that with this current crop of players, who were compiled mostly by Martin Allen, would be able to win every game scoring goals for fun in between.

:D:D And I'm supposed to be too serious! One-nils are wonderful. I'm looking forward to another one today. One-nil to the Leicester Boys one nil, to the Leicester Boys....

PS: Sorry about the lack of education. Post-War baby. Brought up in a caravan. Parents short of money. Lived in a tent. Life's been hard. We try to get by. Thank providence for "the social".

Just so we're straight, you really don't mind defensive wins but would much rather see some attacking verve?

Or are you completely disillusioned now and I'm lost in a thick fog of sarcasm?

For someone who who has been about quite a bit and who was in football, you don't half come out with some prehistoric ways. Its almost like having Howard Wilkinson on board or one of those old cronies that cant move with the times. Instead of using your experience to come out with sensible things when talking about systems, players and the rest, you just make a knee-jerk reaction and stick to it for some reason which I suppose is typical of some people of that generation.

Obviously I don't care what position you hold on the social map as this is a football forum where we share footballing views and the rest is tittle tattle or of no concern to me.

As for today, whether we get 3 goals like we did at Florist or manage to get a 1-0 league home win for the first time since August 2006, time will tell. I`ll happily except the latter if it means 3 points.

I'm off to the Academy match to see some goals. See you later.

i think we need a win at the moment just to give us a bit of confidence and momentum, villa win was great but being realistic, were not winning the carling cup - maybe a 1 - 0 win would just get us back up and running...
