Geo V Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 Henderson Fulop Chambers Clarke Stearman Kisnorbo N'Gotty McAuley Kenton Mattock Kaebi Hayes Wesolowski Clemence Kishishev Newton Sheehan Porter Campbell Hume De Vries Fryatt Odhiambo Cort Thats the list of players used this season so far. Some have only had a few minutes and others haven't missed a minute but they have all been on the pitch at one time or another. Now that list is scary to me, especially as 8 games in the current manager thinks that playing a RB in central midfield and our best striker in right-midfield is a worry. We have no system and no set style of play but that is understandable when you think that we have our second manager of the season and such a big new squad. GM isn't to blame for the current mess though as he has to find his feet but with the promise of new loan signings and the possible inclusion of unused players like Djeziri and Ferreira, we look like heading for 30 plus players being used before we even hit October! We need to just get a sense of perspective of the madness that has happened at our club and not necessarily try to apportion blame at this stage because when things settle down, we`ll have the basis of a decent side at this level who can still look towards the playoffs. Again to put things into perspective, we are just 5 points away from that play off place and have a game in hand on all but 3 of the sides in the division. Its not all doom and gloom and our season isnt over likes some people like to think so lets be prepared to stuff Stoke and Wolves and go up that league table. (BTW I have had a few drinks tonight )

(BTW I have had a few drinks tonight ) It was always going to be folly hving such a big squad and your list pays testimony to that. And we talked last season and the seasons before about only being five points off promotion at this stage. The fact is we're way off the pace after SIX games. We've basically lost a point a game on our rivals. There is absolutely no evidence that the consistency, method or organisation is in place for us to beat either Stoke or Wolves. Anything is possible, certainly. And when I looked at our manner of play against Blackpool and Watford I felt we could challenge anyone in the division. But not now. Something is seriously missing and it is nothing to do with the players' ability. QPR was the worst loss of points I've witnessed in years - totally down to daft decisions. Charlton sounded even worse. Neither game reflected the side that played against Blackpool and Watford. We have to get back to the latter and build for there. With a smaller squad. And with a proper blueprint that runs right through the club.

What worries me about MEgson is ability to motivate and change and outsome or position within a game!! It's early days, but I believe this season is also going to be a painful one!!

Daggers Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 The fact is we're way off the pace after SIX games. Bloody right, and it's disgusting. I am outraged that we are now five points from the play-off zone, how the sodding flip are we ever going to close that gap? Hands up anyone who remembers Thracian posting anything positive about the first team squad/manager/chairman?

Kent Fox Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 We have to get back to the latter and build for there. With a smaller squad. And with a proper blueprint that runs right through the club. A smaller squad? What a cracking idea, Thrac! At least that way, when they succumb to injury, we might be able to get games cancelled due to a lack of players and that will save us the embarrassment of losing.
