For the people who keep saying Sheehan is out of position at left midfield, what exactly does he offer defensively that suggests he's a left-back?

I didn't say he could defend either did I!! He's got a decent left peg...and from what I've seen thats it.

I'm starting to lose track of who's flops half of our players are.

IF Megson is suggesting after one league game in charge we need yet another overhaul then I hope not but I fear that the rest of this season could start to look very much like last season.

It's no surprise that half of our players have a motivation problem. In the past few months they have been coached so many different ways and asked to play in so many different formations and line ups that they probably have no idea what day of the week it is.

I was hoping Megson would accept that given all the recent upheaval the best thing he could do was get the players at his disposal all singing from the same hymn sheet, motivated and with a common direction. If he is going to start loaning yet more players then I fear things are only set to get worse again.

Someone needs to get hold of our squad by the scruff of it's neck, sit the players down and given them some simple goals and reasons to be motivated to play for the shirt, more faces through the door could well have the opposite effect.

carl cort clearly is a waste of time and ,apart from clemence and maybe bruno, no-one has vastly improved the team from last year so why shouldnt he strengthen if needs be??

he has to sift through the shite and decide what is best. he has already pinpointed that 5 at the back could be the best option, given our 2 centre halfs are not strong enough as a pairing, and that stearman is a centre back playing out of position. something which the twats managing us before couldnt get their heads round.

having said that you do say that bringing more players in COULD have a negative effect which means it could have a positive one too.

Taking the occasional decent set piece does not a footballer make.

Essentially, he's not up to it.

I don't expect to see him make many (any) more performances for LCFC first XI.

Johansson is and always has been an infinitely better defender than Sheehan will ever be.

That should be the first and foremost quality to become a left-back, not an afterthought.

Tiatto had one really bad season for us in which he recieved a unreal amount of stick, and I was as bad as anyone I have to admit. Credit where credits he improved no end last year.

And at least Johanson understood the basics of defending even if he wasn't that great getting forward.

The only thing Sheehan has over either of them is his left foot, which he rarely uses other than at dead balls.

The other thing we need at the minute is momentum , and thats going to take some gathering. Sacking Allen after a 4-1 win might just have killed our season, even if it was justified.

I should probably qualify that with "if we play to anywhere near our potential", but yeah, I do. 11th or 12th unless we go mental in January and every good cheap foreign player in world football. Which is a possibility, I suppose.

fair play mate. i was pulling your leg.

nils eric, for me, was symbolic of a dire team and dire times.to be fair to him, like williams and hughes, he looked liked he had ability at times but all too often was average at best IMO.

frustrating considering where he had come from previously.

yeah, sheehan is no stuart pearce but , for me, a better prospect and can improve.

which is what this team should be about - looking to improve and move forward. guys like sheehan and mattock should be integral to the sides progres

and be in the squad.
