James Wesolowski Question?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Im from Australia and have just seen the squad for the Socceroos game against Nigeria and James Wesolowski has been included. I am aware of him and i know he has some talent but has been having some serious trouble with injuries. Can anyone tell me anything about his recent form and any other information which might be interesting.

PS is it true that Patrick Kisnorbo actually plays well for your club?

Welcome, you found the right place!

James Wesolowski is quality he is going to make a top player, if like you mentioned his luck turns with his injuries. He has broken his leg twice (i think both legs!) but he has come back into our side and looked back to his best form which is a huge feet considering the unlucky start he has had to his career. I rate him very highly indeed. He plays Center Midfield for us and has good tidy quick distribution and likes to get stuck in, he will grow as a player and has every chance to be a Premiership player hopefully with us.

Patrick Kisnorbo started poorly for us because he was played Center Midfield but since we moved him to Center Back for over a year now he has been very good earning a place in your team where he had shocking games i know but to be honest he looks a very good centre back for us. He is playing as part of a 3 at the minute and has adapted no problem, bear in mind the league we play in (Championship) has the larger type strikers rather than people with pace who get in behind, so again i find hard to judge without seeing him in a Premiership team but if i had to say i think he is more than capable of doing it at the highest level in England and with Australia to.

Let us know how they do for you....

To be perfectly honest im not expecting Wesolowski to play as we have a reasonably strong squad but from what ive heard about him i am expecting him to be a regular in the Socceroos lineup in afew years. I have heard Kisnorbo plays well for Leicester City so i hope he can find some of that form when he plays for Australia as he hasnt exactly set the world of fire when he has played for us in the past. Im hoping its just done to nerves as i would imagine there is alot of pressure when playing for your country.

Kisnorbo In Line For Powerade Award

Posted on: Fri 02 Nov 2007

Patrick Kisnorbo has been nominated for October's Powerade Player of the Month Award.

The 26-year-old Australian international defender will compete with Watford's Marlon King, Ishmael Miller of WBA, and Stoke City's Ryan Shawcross for the prestigious award.

Kisnorbo helped the Foxes keep four clean sheets out of five in the Championship during last month and netted the second goal during City's 2-0 victory over Barnsley last Saturday.

The winner will be announced on Monday (November 5) at approximately 7pm on the Big League Weekend 2 on Sky Sports 1.

There have also been rumours that Fulham are interested in Kisnorbo to.

I def think Weso has the ability it will come down to staying fit he was very unlucky with his first broken leg he was having an unbelievable game pre season against Celtic when he had his leg broken by Bobo Balde the tosser!

Plus Mark Milligan who has already shown himself to be a great defender for the Soccerooos. Im actually really excited about Australia's future as a footballing nation as we have some great players coming through the ranks at the moment.

its been reported over here in oz, that he is a def midfield player, i always thought he was an attacking mid???

He's a defensive midfielder, and I don't know about the weekend, probabley not.

He's a defensive midfielder without a doubt, but I see no reason why he couldn't expand his game with some training. Someone needs to hone his attacking skills so he's more of an all rounder IMO.

Over-rated by many city fans due in part to the shiote they've had to put up with week in week out.

Wouldn't get a sniff in many of the city teams of the past and far too injury prone!

Read an intresting little article that Weso stopped playing for Aus u/21 and u/23 because his Old man thought he was too good to be playing for them and was better off trying to get a full Soccerroo cap.

Is his Dad his manager?

His dad is a idiot. Most of our Socceroos players came from the Olyroos as it is a good indicator on how good a player is on a international stage. The only exception i can think of is David Carney who never played for the Olyroos but is now firmly intrenched the the Socceroos squad due to his good performances at the Asian Cup and against Argentina.

Maybe a bit harsh i thought it might have been to try and establish himself as a regualr club player so going away for weeks at a time to play qualifiers against Iraq, Lebannon etc wasn't a high priority hence why more A-Leauge players are regulars

Kisnorbo is class - it was unfortunate that he had a bad run in the Asian Cup, because now people are like "Oh Paddy Kisnorbo, that shit **** who plays for your club yeah" and you have to go on and explain that he is actually clarsh and the person you are speaking to is, in fact, the uninformed cretin.

Its true that most of the Olyroos players are from Australian based clubs but there are also alot of players from European based clubs

Nick Ward (Queens Park Rangers)

James Troisi (Newcastle United)

Matthew Spiranovic (FC Nürnberg)

Dario Vidosic (FC Nürnberg)

David Williams (Brondby IF)

Adrian Leijer (Fulham FC)

If all those guys can play against teams like Iraq, Iran and North Korea then so can Wesolowski. I like how the Olyroos always seem to play teams from the Axis of Evil :D

Yeah but how many of those are first team regualrs Weso when fit is a first team player if he went to iran to play he could potentially lose 3-4 games at a time and have his spot taken where the other are in need of game time competive matches

It is true that most of the players i listed have played very few matches for the Olyroos as it is hard to bring them over and for the most part we learnt att the Asian Cup that European based players are apsolutely useless in Asia as they cant cope with the humidity.

Shocking statement and after one Asia cup and the assumption is that european players can't cope with the humidity in Asia. Didn't stop the European based Brazillian and Germans in the 2002 World Cup played in Asia so why would it stop European based Australians

There professional footballers who play in all sorts of conditions

I think a lot of people see Kissa through rose-tinted-bias-goggles. He's a bit like the little girl with the curl at times, y'know, when he's good he's REALLY good. But...

We'll have to get you more tanked next time and joining in lol

Now theres something im good at lol Will more than likely be like that at the Victory game :D

C'mon lads, I think it's fair to say that the Asian Cup showed Paddy K for what he really is: good in the air, crap at ground level!

He's fine in the championship because he is physically strong and a good header of the ball.

But the Asian Cup exposed his major weakness. He is a clydesdale. Those nippy (if you'll pardon the non-pc pun) Asian players with their quick feet and slick passing had him in a daze. They ran rings around him.

His distribution is also pretty woeful. I saw him come on for a warm-up at half time in the Australia-Argentina match recently. He was engaging in some passing practice near the halfway line over about 20 yards with one of the coaches. Not one of his passes went straight to feet and the poor coach was doing his best impersonation of speedy gonzales chasing down paddy's off target passes! Finally paddy passed one about 10 yards off target (remember this is over only about 20 yards!), and the ball raced to the other end of the pitch. Kissa stood there waiting for the coach to go and get it. After about 10 seconds, the coach motions to paddy to come and talk to him, next thing you know paddy himself is jogging down the other end of the pitch to collect the pill himself! Certainly a facet of his game he needs to work on...

After all I've said, I am still a fan, and he can definitely do a job for city, but i would hold off on calling him "class".

He's a dopey, lovable Australian who does a specific job, and at the moment, not much else!
