Bedford Fox Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 People always say about toomy wright and how hasnt proved himself but play him for 2 or 3 games and see how he goes he cant be alot work than what we have starting at the moment.
kirkup21 Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Couldn't do worse than Connolly or De Vries, but could he do any better?
Jonbluefox9 Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 He won more headers in 15 minutes than de Vries did all game. I don't think he's the most natural of finishers but he brings energy, effort and gets in amongst the opposition's defence. We might aswell give him a little run although I don't think he'd solve our goalscoring problem in a three game run.

Reminds me alot of Paul Dickov with his energy.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 I know what you mean Chambo about the number of goals he's scored at other levels but some strikers like Robbie Fowler in his Liverpool days used to make scoring look easy. Not trying to compare Wright to the old Fowler but he doesn't look like a natural finisher. More of a goal poacher really.

Whether it's a 30-yard top corner strike or a Akinbiyi-style tap in, I don't really care...
Jonbluefox9 Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 I know but do we lay many goals on a plate for the strikers? Not really. Connolly has missed good chances all season but I don't remember too many chances being created that could've been tapped in yesterday.
spirefox Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 I'm not a big fan of Tommy but I think he is worth a try now ,if only to shake the other two up.To keep picking Connolly week after week cannot go on.
Anish Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 I'm sure Tommy would've at least tried to get on the end of all those 40 odd crosses that we put in the box yesterday. Give him a go I say, he can't do any worse than Connolly and at least if he's given a chance the fans will be able to judge whether he is actually good enough.
Muz Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Tommy Wright is not our fukcing saviour. He is average to say the least.People shout for his name but when he comes on he does #### all. Id give Chambo ago
spirefox Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Chambo may be a bit lightweight at the moment but what about Chris O'Grady?
Craig Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 I'd buy a new striker. TW is nothing short of overrated.

Muz Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 O Grady came on against Grimsby the other year , but since that he has not been involved. Just give someone who can finish a go
mr potatohead Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 O'Grady is playing in the Under 18s , he is over age for that age group and still he struggles to score . Dodds outscores him most weeks at this level and in the reserves . Perhaps Dodds deserves a go B4 O'Grady.

Id give Chambo ago 75116[/snapback] Yeh, but he hardly ever comes on. He need sto be given 5 games. Starting at Burnley.
Mark Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Louis Dodds Dodds Dodds. Tommy has needed a real chance for years but he's rarely got it. He hasn't played first team football for YEARS. No wonder he's lost any form he had in our first division promotion season. Now Wright isn't scoring at Reserve level, Doddsy is scoring bagfulls, for the academy but also for the Reserves in the last month. So it's worth giving him a place on the bench at least. I know its not right throwing a kid in when we're fighting relegation, but we need GOALS.
Sparky Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 at least tommy showed a bit of passion yesterday , unlike the rest of the overpaid arseholes ( williams apart)
Simon Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 I am in the camp that has heard some promising things about Louis Dodds and think it was about time he was given a go, hes scoring too often to be ignored. Wright has yet to prove (at any level) that he can score consistently enough.
