James. Posted 13 February 2008 Author Posted 13 February 2008 My mate's just got us tickets to see em up in Wolverhampton (last place there was tickets available). Woo-hoo!! Enjoy. I saw them in Bristol back in November hence this thread! Read my review on the first page if you fancy a taster of what's to come.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Wahwahwah!!! I didn't know this - I don't buy the muso rags every week like I used to in my younger years I really want to go, have checked there are still tickets left for Wolves Civic (Not a bad venue - saw The Hives there a few years back). I am now waiting on text message replies from mates if they want to go. I'm guessing they're having to wait until they've asked their significant others - but it seems like it's forever. I wouldn't want to go on my own (concerts are about the shared experience) and my wife is profoundly deaf, so £30 for a non-experience is a bit stiff (she's seen Boo Radleys and Ash with me before and a few cheapies at the Charlotte - she gets something out of the experience, mainly the drinks I'm obliged to buy her for accompanying me ) If I don't go, I'll spend that money on a couple of tickets for a City game! (She does like that!)

James. Posted 11 March 2008 Author Posted 11 March 2008 Yep. Mininova. Nice, I'll get on it tonight. When I saw them (and as alluded to in my review) the new stuff they played was certainly darker... much more prominence of bass and drums. I liked it.
hairy Posted 18 March 2008 Posted 18 March 2008 Vinyl and USB box set up for grabs, limited edition Portishead shop

AoWW Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Really liking Third. Took me a while to get into it. JTB will crucify me for saying this - but I'm still not into it. Really disapointed, in fact. I'll keep trying though.
coale39 Posted 15 May 2008 Posted 15 May 2008 JTB will crucify me for saying this - but I'm still not into it. Really disapointed, in fact. I'll keep trying though. Yeah, as I said, it took me a while. On first listen, I didnt like it at all! Keep persevering !
Guest Posted 15 May 2008 Posted 15 May 2008 Yeah, as I said, it took me a while. On first listen, I didnt like it at all! Keep persevering ! Indeed, it doesn't grab you as instantly as the first two albums but after a few listens I found I had a found what, for me at least, were a few stand out tracks - We Carry On / Small / Magic Doors / Threads / Silence / Machine Gun
