I hate how they talk about lowered confidence.

It's bullshit. Confidence has nothing to do with how shit things are. They're not good enough, that's all. Holloway was right to slam the team and come out with his "I'm buying players in January statement" because quite frankly that's what's needed. If you're a good enough player, you'll pull through and play well, confidence is just an excuse for players who are too shit to do anything about the position they're in.

No, I'll give them some credit with this excuse alot of Footballers do rely on confidence, and at times like this confidence is understandably low, but I also agree with what you have said that plain and simply they are just no good enough.

It's been like Groundhog Day during the past three seasons. Same dross, different managers.

Holloway is absolutely spot on to get rid..

At the end of the day, in a job where you get paid 10k plus for 90 minutes work, to have so many excuses is just boring now, they should be better than this.

Exactly my point, being paid the amounts they do, there's no excuse. Confidence? What sort of incentive do you need? YOU'RE BEING PAID THOUSANDS FOR THIS SHIT!

Get over yourselves or **** off.

Which is what's happening.

Which is good.

Which I'm happy about.

>_>

So why have England failed to qualify for the European Championship finals? And why have players who have helped their sides to so much European club success suddenly looked such flops?

Confidence is vital. Confidence in yourself, confidence in the manager, confidence in your team-mates and confidence in the way you're going about the job.

Why do you think people like Bill Shankly and Brian Clough were so successful? Cloughie never had the best players by any normal yardstick. But he got them believing in what they could achieve. And they proved him right.

i agree confidence is a vital part of football but its not all about it.Its mainly just because we dont have good enough players that can help us win games and creap up the table :cry:

Thrac, I was just referring to Leicester City tbh. I know confidence is important in some respects but the papers and fans seem to blame confidence when really it's because the squad is **** at the minute and there's no two ways about it.

well said i totally agree we just arent good enough and have some crap players that do not deserve to start at all or even have a place on the bench.

But this squad has shown it can win games, albeit not many; so were they just lucky to beat Watford, Bristol and Villa? Maybe to some extent but I'm sure confidence is a major influence. Even IH said their heads all dropped after Hull scored.

Maybe getting rid of players, good and bad will bring back some belief, I hope so because it doesn't matter who he adds if they haven't got confidence in their own ability and that of their colleagues then we're going to be stuck down the bottom for a lot longer.

i hope we don't go down the road of mass exodus ( or more likely players shifting to sidelines ) and multi-buy players ;

i believe that it was martin allen's tactic of barry fry wholesale buying that did the damage in the first place , he ought to try more to steaddy the ship with the few reasonable players we have and be very selective with who he brings in .

this is pretty well much the same thing that i said when MA went loopy bringing in players

True. We signed too many in the summer.

The only problem with trying to gradually build a side, which i agree would be the best way to go about the job, is the transfer window rules just create the mad scramble for players. I think a better idea would be to allow players to be traded from the start of the season up till the end of January instead of the ludicrus situation we seem to have now

In January as well it does become really hard to secure a player. Teams don't want to be letting their good players go half way through a season, so if they're are going to sell they're going to ask for big money. Especially from a club in our situation with the chairman that we have. January will be far from plain sailing for us I feel.

thats true , but i just hope that IH accepts that the most important thing for us is to secure our championship status first and not do a "go for broke " type mass cull and then go on a buying spree ;

he needs to try to keep the players we have "on board " and not alienate the present squad from the dogfight that we increasingly look like getting dragged into

So do I.

But I do support the attitude that Ollie has taken regarding some of the players we have in our squad having a bad attitude on the every day happiness of the squad. When you're in a battle like this it's important that there is a togetherness and confidence in each other, at the moment I don't feel we have any of that in our squad.

yes very true , it does seem sadly lacking , but i stll think that with our players individually, we have the backbone of a decent side, but the crazy goings-on have affected the players more than we as outsiders realise , its as if they don't know whether they belong or not

I think what I'm saying is that you don't need confidence to kick a ball around.

You need confidence to pass your driving test or to sky dive for charity. Kicking a ball around and getting payed stupid amounts for it is nothing compared to those. It may be a technically challenging game but it's not something that strikes fear into you or you wouldn't play it.

you do need confidence... if your low in confidence you wont try and take a player on, you wont try something special that might come off, you wont try and play with a sense of freedom... you'll play simple balls so you wont get shouted out, you try and chase the ball rather than be on it, you wont bomb forward fearing about what happens behind you

you NEED confidence when playing football
