dan_84 Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Are Derby in the trouble financially? It looks as though they will be going down so why are they selling the players that would have done well for them next year?
Ultra Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Quite the reverse. They're just about to be taken over by a company with links to the Disney corporation (thus confirming what we've known for some time - they're a Mickey Mouse club. ) The players they've sold would have lost their first-team place anyway. But many of the players they're bringing in will be moving on in the summer once they're relegated.

Koke Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Paul Jewell is still optimistic, albeit naive, that they can still beat the drop. I admire him for that, but I didn't expect ego's like Laurent Robert and Hossam Ghaly to be the ones to pull them out. This is the same Ghaly that refused to train with Brum because he didn't like it or something like that.
Simi Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Are Derby in the trouble financially? It looks as though they will be going down so why are they selling the players that would have done well for them next year? Not at all. They've been selling players who have more or less been on the fringe. It's Jewells team now and he knows exactly what he's doing.
MPH Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 selling players to get new players in. simple, really.
