Rich Fox Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 I'm saying it how it is. I've missed 5 games all season and i'm guilty of being optimistic after each of our wins but I soon get bought back down to earth the next game when we lose. Has anyone forgot how poor we were at Southampton regardless of who we've signed? Coventry were poor today, just don't get your hopes up. I'm not being negative at all. Who do you think you are saying dont get your hopes up, if we didnt have any hope we would never have turned up today, you sound about 95 and really boring and what a siilly thing to say cov were poor most teams that loose are poor otherwise they would have won.

What? I'm trying to give people advice here right. I mean look at the name of this thread, King Ollie, he wasn't such a king the last 2 games was he? After a poor December people were calling for his head, i'm just pointing out that peoples opinions can change very quickly. As I said, i've missed 5 games this season and i'm as guilty as anybody by getting my hopes up and feeling optimistic after a win. I must be mature for my age then if I sound 95 because i'm 16.
Micky Ruddle Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 First win in the new year at the Walkers. Great start, lets hope this continues. Sam, just bare in mind, we did not have Zsolt, Bori, and Oakley to boss the midfield at Soton. If we had those players down south, the game would of been a different story. We lacked midfield creativity at St. Mary's, likewise Rangers. Hopefully these midfield signings will take us forward, and with the goals of Hayles, Howard, Fryatt and Hume, and possibly Campbell for when he returns, maybe, just maybe, we will shoot up this league. On the other hand, lets not think of promotion just yet. First aim is to get enough points to stay up. One win against our "rivals" does not mean promotion is on the cards...just yet. When we know we've got enough, thats the time to think play-offs/automatic promotion. Ollie, fantastic stuff. Great tactics, and was good to see attacking football throughout the whole match. Even when we put the game to bed, we went for more, and that was great to see.

I'm as happy as anybody that we've beaten Coventry but yes, the signs are encouraging. We saw some very good stuff being played today, I just hope it continues. I'm just pointing out that peoples opinions change very quickly.

I think the thing about this win that has galvanises the fans is the weeks b4 it, we are getting rid of dead wood and replacing with quality. We will defo have games like soton where we will be second best but the baseline of the tesm seems to have gone up and that can only boad well for the future.
surrifox Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 5 new players in the team - one signed only a day earlier- can't wait until they start reading each others moves and gelling as a team they should be something special
Thracian Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 What? I'm trying to give people advice here right. For many people football is an emotional game, all about highs and lows. But the important thing today is that the side was far more the kind that Holloway wants. It was pretty well full players or his kind of players. And what particularly pleased me was that Holloways Choice was positive, capable of creating chances, capable of playing high up the field and of either closing down quickly or recovering quickly. We had an entire team playing in their rightful positions and specialists where they were needed. Holloway will be judged again in his next game and the ones after that. But I don't see a lot of sense in judging what happened up to now because, surely, we've had enough of it if today is a sign of the new way forward. I would actually have been quite pleased had we played with a bit of flair and not lost today. But for our players to cog together like that was a real bonus cos Coventry got a right hammering today. Alnwick could have sat in the changing rooms for all the action he was given by a team that whooped Blackburn last week. In the outfield it was us who were dominating midfield, winning the loose balls, spreading the play this way and that, creating endless chances and raining shots in on goal. When could we last say that? I don't want to look back on days when we were as bad as a couple of worthwhile shots all game. I want to imagine more football like today's - and even better. Sure this team will have off days. But at least we know they CAN do it and I'm sure this won't be the end of our improvement. Wingers at last. Proper football. I had wondered if I'd ever see the like again.

It looks good for the future but lets not forget that our team is relatively young and still needs to gel. We'll have good weeks and bad weeks. My point was that people shouldn't be saying Ollie is king after a win and be calling for his head after a loss. Not on here to argue.

It is all about highs and lows but when i've been bought up watching Leicester in an era when we haven't been doing so well, the highs are very rare. I'm sorry for being slightly negative, I don't want to argue with anyone on here but my point is that people shouldn't be so two faced. Calling for the managers head after a loss or calling him a king after win, just see how things go. The signs are very encouraging but we're still a very young, fairly inexperienced team. I'm sure that if we lost our next 3 games the same people would be calling for his head again, but I suppose thats football.

I agree 95% of ours fans (FICKLE FANS ) will want his head up for the chop if we lose our next three games but there the stupid ones that get the managers sacked if we laid off them there wouldn't be any pressure. Maybe mandaric put to much pressure on any manager this year sayin he was looking for possible promotion this year even though it'll take at least a season rebuilding. i defo think holloway is the right man and have ever since we got him. Very well done to mandaric on not listenin to a minority of supporters when allen went wanting mandaric gone not realising he saved us from near bankcruptcy otherwise we'd be out of business and more than likely not even have a lcfc today. to everyone who supports lcfc get behind holloway who if given sufficient time will bring the glory days back to leicester HOLLOWAY ALL THE WAY
Guest shearfox Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Holloway is differenet class to other managers we have had in the past few years, he knows what players to sign and knows how to motivate and get players playing. All the players he has signed so far have done the business, while before we would have been lucky to get one good player from six signings.
Ultra Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 It's way too early for a coronation. Holloway's still lost more games than he has won. But the signs today were promising, and let's hope the form continues into the next few games.
