act smiley Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 If we got rid of Henderson, that would leave us without a backup goalkeeper if Nielsen's move goes through. I'd rather we just gave them away than paid them to piss off, too.
lildave3 Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I hope Hellings or Henderson. We should not release Henderson, it'll do no good.
Rodders Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I hope Hellings or Henderson. I get the feeling that both Cort and Newton went as a result of having a bad attitude, rather than a lack of ability. The only effect that crap players will have is a strain on the wage bill, whereas players with a bad attitude are going to have a detrimental affect on team morale. I think Olly was talking about this in December From their lack of effort on the pitch, I can't imagine either Cort or Newton really putting in much effort in training. This is the kind of player we needed to lose as quickly as possible, for playing reasons. I'm guessing that Holloway wanted out for both of them. Hellings and Henderson may not stand much chance of playing for the first team this season, but it won't have much of an effect on the footballing side of things if they stay or if they go. Guess that kind of decision's up to Mandaric.
Mort Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 We probably need to hang on to Hendo as cover for Alnwick... but beyond that I'm surprised that Hellings, Nielsen, Kaebi and Hammond havent been moved on, I'd expect a deal for Nielsen (as that's what seems to be being mooted), could also see a deal for Kaebi (probably meaning a move back to the middle east), sounds like Mabbs might actually be on the move as well (:w00t:) and even Douglas seems to be on his way out, but Hellings and Hammond have to be prime targets for release? Beyond that I'd expect to see Logan, Kenton (well... Ollie's already said he'll be gone at the end of the season), Dodds and DeVries all either making their loan moves perminant or going elsewhere at the end of the season... at the same time could see Hendo moving on. I'd also hazard that we could make a little bit on Fryatt, who's going to find it hard to get into the reckoning with the likes of Howard, Hume and DJ in front of him. I doubt another Championship club would bite... but he was proven in league one and i could see a few of the clubs there making a decent offer for him.
Joe. Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Nielsen or Maybury would make the most sense to me. Nielsen's never going to get a game, and is therefore not needed. Maybury is just another right back, and plainly isn't good enough.
STUHILL Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Nielsen for sure!! Maybury may get a bid from another club, 50k to Leeds is what I'm guessing!
Blue Bob Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 There's a big list: Neilson Maybury Hellings Kaebi Douglas Kishishev De Vries Kenton Cant see any other them making it into the 1st team so I doubt Ollie will want them about. I doubt many of them would attract a tranfer fee so if they dont get a transfer by the end of the month I wouldnt be suprised to see the lot go by "mutual consent". This should give Ollie a smaller squad he can concentrate on as well as saying to the rest of the squad that if you dont make the grade and put the effort in you will be released. I think there are too many players get a contract and then sit back and then dont put the effort in, I am please we are making a bit of a stand. I am sure after you have been released in this manner it would put off potential new clubs that may want to sign them.
