Tommy G Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Really. Elaborate?Whenever Liverpool are getting bitched, he goes on his one man superhero Gerrard thing. He's so introverted, he doesn't stick an arm round his players, he doesn't gee them up, he's always thinking about his game and nothing else. Yes his driving displays are inspiring but as a captain? Poor. And I've noted that on at least 10 occasions now. I agree. He isn't a 'poor' captain as such, just not as impressive as everyone builds him up to be, mainly the media. I'm not a fan of Gerrard personally, it doesn't help either when people crawl up his arse and sing his praises week in week out for average performances. He carries Liverpool - yes He has only seemed the shining light in the Liverpool team in recent seasons because they have been poor in the league, but with some excellent performances in Europe and FA Cup. Now Torres is on the scene I believe he will now be the new golden boy of Liverpool, he is already starting to be

His goalscoring record speaks for itself, and hes versatility and all round game is second to none...
Tommy G Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Average performances? His goalscoring record speaks for itself, and hes versatility and all round game is second to none... Name a game this season where he has shone? Given were almost in feb.
WetFlannel Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Name a game this season where he has shone? Given were almost in feb. Consideing he went on a run with about 10 goals in 12 games, I wouldnt exactly say he hasnt shone...
Tommy G Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Consideing he went on a run with about 10 goals in 12 games, I wouldnt exactly say he hasnt shone... My point is, that is people like you who will sing his praises week in week out when he doesnt really deserve it. Where was he in the PFA team of the year last season?

Where was he in the PFA team of the year last season? Him and Ronaldo are the only two people to get into PFA team of the year twice in a row (I think) if that bothers you that much...
Tommy G Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Him and Ronaldo are the only two people to get into PFA team of the year twice in a row (I think) if that bothers you that much... Not really no. I'm saying that three midfielders finished above him last year in PFA player of the year. Ronaldo, Scholes & Fabregas.

Tommy G Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Tell you what, lets go back over 50 years shall we?? I mean where do you stop? Im getting bored of areguing with another "I love Steven Gerrard Fan' Get over him
Father Ted Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Keepers - Robert Green, Joe Hart, Scott Carson Defenders - Micah Richards, Glen Johnson, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry , Sol Campbell , Joleon Lescott, Ashley Cole, Wayne Bridge Midfielders - David Beckham, David Bentley, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry, Owen Hargreaves, Joe Cole, Ashley Young, Jermaine Jenas Strikers - Peter Crouch, Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Although Joe Hart is developing into a top-class prospect, I feel it is too early to put him in goal at senior level. I'd like to see Green in goal personally or Carson given another chance. James/Kirkland in for cover, with Robinson dropped. If Capello has watched and reveiwed the footage of qualifying then he has hopefully realised that the Gerrard/Lampard partnership does not work, and would surely start Gerrard and Barry. Heskey should be in the squad, I feel, but has had a season blighted by injury and hasn't had a proper run in the Wigan side since he broke his toe after being first selected. Young, Bentley and Agbonlahor all deserve chances in the side based on this seasons form for their clubs.
