OriginalRobboFOX Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 What you reckon? He has been at most Sky games I've watched checking players out. Any suprises... Which keepers will he go for?? Will Becks be included?? Whats everyones thoughts, I personally cannot wait...
isaidno Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Keepers : Green, Hart & James ( In no Order ) Beckham- I would prefer to see Bentley play I hope he picks some of the in form players like Agbonlahor,Young & Bentley
MC Prussian Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Hopp Schwiiz! Friendlies. Pah. Wembley will be practically empty. Who wants to play Switzerland anyway?
Tommeh Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 I'd like to see Beckham in and as its been mentioned given captaincy as it will allow Capello a bit of time to asess his squad and choose his captain properly as opposed to just going on club games. Personally I'd like Gerrard to get it full time. Goalies: 1st - Green 2nd - James 3rd - Carson Then the usual suspects in defence no real surprises, Richards and Lescott keeping their places. Midfield: defenalty Bentley and ashley young Strikers: Get Heskey in for certain up there with owen. others: Ashton, Rooney and Agbonlahor
Bryn Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Gerrard is a terrible captain. Terry and Barry are good club captains but less good at international level but Gerrard is just a poor captain in general. Terry is definately the man for that job but I'm never certain he is our best centreback. It's a squad of 26 right? I'm hoping for; Keepers: Green, James and Carson Fullbacks: Richards, Brown, Cole and Shorey (And I'm hoping some better fullbacks than Brown and Shorey come through, or that I've glaringly overlooked a decent full back or two) Centrebacks: Ferdinand, Terry, King, Campbell and Lescott Wingers: Bentley, Young, Wright-Phillips, Cole and Downing Central Midfielders: Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Hargreaves Strikers: Rooney, Owen, Agbonlahor, Crouch and Defoe
James. Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Wembley will be practically empty. Errrr. You are joking of course. Aren't you?

RowlattsFox Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Keepers - Robert Green, David James, Scott Carson Defenders - Micah Richards, Glen Johnson, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry (if fit), Ledley King, Jolean Lescott, Ashley Cole, Stephen Warnock Midfielders - David Beckham, David Bentley, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry, Owen Hargreaves, Joe Cole, Ashley Young, Jermaine Jenas Strikers - Peter Crouch, Micheal Owen, Wayne Rooney, Jermain Defoe, Dean Ashton Got a feeling Jenas will be in the squad, Capello has watched a few Spurs games recently and Jenas has performed well in all of them, Johnson has been in good form for Pompey but i'm not sure Capello has watched himy yet. Stephen Warnock is better than Shorey and deserves to be in the squad. I can't see Heskey being named.
Manwell Pablo Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Buffon Ameila Curci Pannuci Nesta Matterazi Barzaggli Oddo Zambrotta Cannavaro Chilleni Grosso Bonera De Rossi Perrota Pirlo Gattuso Ambrosini Cameronasi Aqualinani Foggia Lucarelli Toni Giraldinho Palladinho Di Natali Best squad for years.
MikeyT Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Why do people always go on about Defoe being in the squad! He's poo!
Bryn Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Thats one of the stupidest things I've read on this forum... Really. Elaborate? Whenever Liverpool are getting bitched, he goes on his one man superhero Gerrard thing. He's so introverted, he doesn't stick an arm round his players, he doesn't gee them up, he's always thinking about his game and nothing else. Yes his driving displays are inspiring but as a captain? Poor. And I've noted that on at least 10 occasions now.

Poor. And I've noted that on at least 10 occasions now. Different captains do it in different ways. Same as managers do i.e some give the players a bollocking, some managers put an arm around them. Gerrard is one that sets the example and forces others to follow. And they do. To say he is a poor captain is somewhat outrageous i would say.

I'd love to see Ashley Young given a real go on the wing.
MC Prussian Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Errrr. You are joking of course. Aren't you? You expect 90'000 people to show up for an international friendly on Wednesday?
Simi Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 You expect 90'000 people to show up for an international friendly on Wednesday? Either way it will sound empty.
Manwell Pablo Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 You expect 90'000 people to show up for an international friendly on Wednesday? Probabley not quite 90, Doubt the Swiss will sell the allocation. But yeah I think England will sell out.

Poor. And I've noted that on at least 10 occasions now. He isn't really a vocal person is he? But he leads by example. Sort of like our very own Patrick Kisnorbo. The times he was captain he hardly stuck an arm around players nor did he give anyone a bollocking for below par performances. But again, he led by example, can't fault him for that.
sdb Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 ------------Green------------- Richards--Rio---Terry---Cole ----------------King------------ -------gerrard---------------- Agbonlahor-------------Cole ---------------Rooney-------- -----------Heskey------------- mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm equally happy with young on the wing and carrick DM
Joe. Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 It's going to be tougher for Capello than McLaren because there's a lot more younger talents really pushing for a place in the side this time. I think he could do no wrong by including a couple of them in the first team. It is a friendly after all, a chance to try out these sorts of players. So here's what I'd like to see: Green Richards Terry Ferdinand Cole Cole Gerrard Lampard Young Agbonlahor Rooney I'm still not convinced that Beckham should play if I'm honest. Joe Cole's naturally right footed so he should have no problems playing on the right wing, allowing a chance for maybe Young to get his chance. I also think Agbonlahor deserves a go. He's been putting in some great performances this season and deserves a chance, expecially in a friendly like this. Also shoved Green in there, wouldn't mind seeing him either.
MikeyT Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 What about Aaron Lennon and David Bentley? Dont see anyone has mentioned them. Obviously they couldnt both start though!
Ultra Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Probabley not quite 90, Doubt the Swiss will sell the allocation. But yeah I think England will sell out. You could be right - especially if Beckham plays. A lot of folks will be sad enough to pay good money to watch this game, just so they could say they were there when he got his 100th cap.
sdb Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 gerrard and lampard absolutely must not play together

Poor. And I've noted that on at least 10 occasions now. Firstly, I clearly remember an interview how he sorted out Luis Garcia against Chelsea for missing a sitter and Luis Garcia came back on and was a changed man. Luis even came out and said Gerrard certainly helped him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuFSZXFd3x4 Name me one player on the planet who could do what he did that day... No matter how conclusive the outcome seemed, Gerrard produced one of the displays of the century in virtually Steven Gerrard vs. West Ham. Thats one of the reasons why I rate him as the best player in the world (although most will probably disagree). Also Istanbul speaks for itself... The point is, when the team needs Steven Gerrard, hes always there and sets an example for the rest of the team...
Daggers Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Thats one of the stupidest things I've read on this forum... Why? Where was he when England failed? Hiding. Look at the list of recent incumbents, they were inspirational (for the most part) or simply damn good at being vocal. He was left wanting. I think he has proved himself to be hopeless at captaining England.
