Leicester City goalkeeper Carl Pentney has today joined Ilkeston Town for a one-month loan period.

Pentney, who enjoyed a similar loan spell at York City last year, has been a regular in the Foxes' under 18 side this season.

However, due to his age, the player would not have been eligible to play in Thursday night's FA Youth Cup fifth round tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

CARL Pentney has joined Unibond League side Ilkeston Town on a month's loan from Leicester City.

The keeper from Brightlingsea has been a regular in the Foxes reserves after returning from a loan spell with York City and is pushing to catch Ian Holloway's eye.

Pentney will return to the Walkers' Stadium next month as he has been selected for Leicester's trip to Dallas, America for an Under 19s tournament in March. Pentney and his team-mates will be up against sides from Liverpool, Benfica, Brazil, Japan, Mexico and U.S.A.

Pentney's father, Lloyd, a well known non-league player around East Anglia, traveled up to Ilkeston for the game against Whitby Town on Saturday to watch his son play, only for the game to be called off.

Pentney snr said: “I went up as parents do only to find I had traveled 180 miles unnecessarily. Carl has been doing well and after coming back from York the senior management at Leicester told him to knuckle down and work hard again and see what happens.

“He played six league games for York and learnt a lot, not least how lucky he is at Leicester.

“Playing in the reserves has been good experience coming up against the likes of John Hartson and Leon Best and is progressing well.”

Pentney helped Leicester's Under 18s win the Premier Reserve League title last season and won a professional contract which he is hoping will be extended.

One thing I'll say for you Thracian is I always enjoy reading your posts. If I'm honest I rarely agree with what you have to say, but you always put across your views in an eloquent manner. Thats one thing FT as a whole has going for it. I look at other forums and they are often a maze of text speak and "street" talk, which even at 24 I find I'm getting too old to decipher!

Funny you should pick that post in paticular as a quote for that post. All Thracian has typed is "From the EADT Website."

Yeah I realised that at the time. It was just a general comment. A very well written sentence though it must be said.

That's not my post, but thanks just the same.

As for agreeing, I don't know as the site would greatly benefit from everyone agreeing anyway, but when I get more than 20% on my side I'll start to get surprised.

It's a personality thing.

This loan business is a bit like pass the parcel.

Except without music, or kids, or a parcel.

The player's treated as the parcel. And I wasn't aware the game was exclusive to kids and couldn't be actually or figuratively played by clubs. So two out of three represents a sizeable "bit" to me.

Ok you win.

Whoever is in charge of the music, make sure it stops when Leeds are holding Mr Shee han.
