Brainy Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 For me I see Peterborough and Swansea competing in one of the top two leagues. If Port Vale go down and fail to come straight back up, I think they'll become a mid-table League 2 side, as will Colchester once they go down this season.
Joe. Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Peterborough have got the cash behind them so they could go places. Same as MK Dons, I can see them in the Championship in a few years time. As for going down, we've seen it with Leeds, Forest and most notably Bradford. Not sure I can see it happening again. I'm sure it will but I wouldn't be able to predict who it'd be.
Micky Ruddle Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Wigan will go down, and no one will want to know them, hopefully. Swansea, will become a Premiership team. One day.
Finnegan Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Swansea are coming up this year. I can see them establishing themselves in the Championship, but it'd take hefty rebuilding for them to get much further. Just because they have a flashy stadium, doesn't make them a big club.
WetFlannel Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 I think if Fulham go down, they are dead and buried. Such a bland and boring club. I really do despise them.

Ultra Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Not unless their chairman packs up. He's not getting any younger. If Fulham go down, as seems likely, they could well end up in administration or bankrupt. Not all sugar daddies can deliver success..
Finnegan Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 He's not getting any younger. If Fulham go down, as seems likely, they could well end up in administration or bankrupt. Not all sugar daddies can deliver success.. When you put it in perspective of where they've come from and where they are, they've not done too bad really. Especially when you consider the relative little he's put it into the side. Getting rid of Coleman was probably a mistake, and replacing him with Sanchez most certainly was. But other than that they could certainly have been doing worse at Fulham. I've got time for them, perhaps if only for Coleman, but they're an OK little club and I'd be sad to see them go.
Uncle Albert Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Nowhere - Boro, Reading and Wigan Somewhere - Swans, MK Dons and Bristol City
WetFlannel Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 I would definately add Middlesborough to that list. It seems as though they are carried by Downing, and now maybe Alves. If Downing goes, they'll be Downing (arent I witty).

Joe. Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 I really dont see Middlesbrough as a sinking ship. Especially with one of English football's richest men in charge.
AyewJoking Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 Not much of a leap but QPR will be mid table also rans in the Premiership so long as the money doesnt dry up. I'd love to see Reading, Wigan, Portsmouth, Preston and Plymouth sink back to where they belong.
Asha Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 Agreed, QPR will become a premiership force. I can see Fulham in League One by the end of next decade.
Simi Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 Preston is a good shout, they don't seem capable of staying up and they have no pulling power as a club. Swansea as well, depends how long they can keep hold of Martinez, certainly will be hot property soon I feel.
Lovejoy Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 From League 2 MK Dons and Peterborough both have potential to reach AT LEAST the championship in the coming years. From League 1 apart from Swansea who look well equipped to go places, you'd also have to imagine that Leeds and Forest will sort themselves out and head upstairs again. In the championship (excluding the biased opinion of Leicester) I reckon QPR in 2018 could well be Champions League material depending on the dedication of the owners, and if a breakaway Superleague hasn't been formed by then including the "big 4". Also any team taken over by foreign investors COULD (depending on the interests of the owner) get somewhere. In terms of losers, teams such as Wigan, Fulham and Middlesbrough would find it hard to return if they went down. From the Football League, teams like Blackpool and S****horpe wouldn't return here for a while one has to imagine.
JakeShingler Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 when derby get realagated from the prem i dont think theyll have enought to stay in the championship
Maybes Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 when derby get realagated from the prem i dont think theyll have enought to stay in the championship I hope you're not being serious.
Ultra Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 Ebbsflyett United anyone You mean Ebbsfleet? I doubt it, their ownership structure does not exactly ensure stability. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go down next season. How can 20000 people make a decision on team selection when a good 90% of them have never even seen the players in action?

I'd be sad to see ANY team go (except Leeds or Millwall), but Fulham have run up around £100m of debts, which they'll struggle to repay without TV money. Al Fayed was naive enough to believe they could overtake Chelsea as the main force in West London. Even without Abramovich's intervention, that was never going to happen. And the way in which Coleman was treated last season means that there won't be a great deal of sympathy for them if they do go down.

Yeah thats what i meant.
joely22 Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 Agreed, QPR will become a premiership force. Can't agree with that. QPR are just another Fulham waiting to happen. Will spend shit loads of cash, get promoted, go for average players who will see that the club isn't that big and will choose other clubs. Yeah, they'll probably have a bit of success but I dount they'll do much. Just look at Fulham now, that's QPR in a few years. I can see The Rams in the Premiership in two years time, relegation scrap, followed by a lower mid-table finnish, followed by a mid-table finnish, followed by another mid-table finnish, followed by a push for Europe which ultimatly ends in 8th place, followed by UEFA Cup football, Followed by a Champions League push. There's 9 years, am sure the title will come in the 10th!!!
