Steven Posted 22 March 2005 Posted 22 March 2005 Chambo only only on the bench. <_< Westerby Cup Team NamedLeicester City will put out a young side for Tuesday night's Westerby Cup semi-final clash. Peter Canero is the only player over 21 to feature for the Foxes against Oadby Town. There will be plenty of strike power on show however with Tommy Wright, Chris O'Grady and free-scoring Louis Dodds heading the City attack. With the added free kick threat of captain Alan Sheehan, City are certainly looking for the win to advance to the final. The match at Holmes Park kicks off at 7pm. CITY: Conrad Logan, Liam Norvall, Peter Canero, Adam Wykes, Scott Lycett, Alan Sheehan (capt.), Ricky Muggleton, Louis Dodds, Chris O'Grady, Tommy Wright, Levi Porter Subs: Matt Goodwin, Billy McKay, Ashley Chambers, Tyson Payne
Mark Posted 22 March 2005 Posted 22 March 2005 Great line up. Would have liked to see the Brazilians in action before we end up releasing them, but i guess being a Cup game they won't be allowed to play, shame there is no reserve game this week.
Who ate all the pies? Posted 22 March 2005 Posted 22 March 2005 Well it's our best chance of getting silverware this season....we really need to get better!
Samu Posted 22 March 2005 Posted 22 March 2005 Where is Holmes Park? It's not the Oadby Town ground is it? Cos if it's being played there its only down the road for me.
Anish Posted 22 March 2005 Posted 22 March 2005 It's an absolute disgrace that Canero is the only player over 21 playing. It is patently obvious for all to see that he is not part of Levein's plans (whether rightly or wrongly) but to humiliate him by making him play with the kids is piss poor management. We might as well terminate his contract and pay him compensation because we are simply denying another youngster the chance to play in Canero's position - somebody that MAY break through into the first team squad. I'm sure Canero is gutted by Levein's decisions but it's doing nobody any good by keeping him here when he has no future. I feel sorry for the lad, he can't afford to resign from the club and it's obvious that the management don't rate him...so why can't they do a deal like they did with Scowy/Benji?
Steven Posted 22 March 2005 Author Posted 22 March 2005 Westerby Cup Victory For CityA young Leicester City team advanced to the semi-finals of the Westerby Cup on Tuesday evening, beating Hinckley United 3-2. Goals from Ricky Muggleton and a brace from Louis Dodds saw the Foxes through in a keenly fought match at Middlefield Lane. The home side have enjoyed a successful season so far, reaching the second round proper of the FA Cup, but could not overcome a spirited City line-up packed with Academy talent. Get Dodds in the first team.

Mark Posted 22 March 2005 Posted 22 March 2005 Dodds is IMMENSE. Scores every time he plays, then is dropped for Nathan Blake. Drop the comedy and give him a chance i say.

Steven Posted 23 March 2005 Author Posted 23 March 2005 Maybe Chambo could write a short report for us. City Bow Out In SemiLeicester City were knocked out of the Westerby Challenge Cup on Tuesday night, going down 2-1 to Oadby Town. City put out a young side, consisting largely of players from the Walkers Academy, against the Midlands Alliance league side for the match at Holmes Park. Peter Canero put the Foxes ahead, but Oadby pulled level and will go on to the final courtesy of an extra time winner.
Simon Posted 23 March 2005 Posted 23 March 2005 We lost 2-1 AET with Canero scoring our goal http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~643477,00.html
chambo_9 Posted 23 March 2005 Posted 23 March 2005 Should of won, by a healthy margin at that but lack of quality in front of goal cost us. Caneros goal was a great strike, left foot top corner from the edge of the 18 yard box. Scrappy in parts but a game that should of been dead and buried in the first half.

Dawson & Wesolowski are injured and I dont know why Stearman didnt play

And how did he play besides his goal?
Newcastle_Fox Posted 23 March 2005 Posted 23 March 2005 We shouldn't be losing to Oadby Town. 82262[/snapback] Its a worrying result but just put it down to experience for the lads but still they shouldnt lose to Oadby town they play against top academy and reserve players every week.
