Daggers Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 Without him we probably wouldn't be in this division, we would have gone into administration. The man deserves some respect. As much as it pains me to side with "The Trust", the man 'deserves' no respect at all. Things would have been different, and that is all. Maybe time will prove him to be a lucky and/or beneficial owner...but at the moment he is no more than a "Michael Knighton"

Kilworthfox Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 no no no silly , he means this one Ahhhh I think I've got it now
Thracian Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 We would not have gone into administration.Had to sell the players who would attract the highest fees yes, and not spend the money on agents and players wages like Milan has done, but as Bristol City have proved you can do well in this division if the manager gets the right squad of players together, picking them from lower divisions. Glad you've confirmed that. This myth that we'd have gone into admin has persisted yet I've never believed in had any basis at the time. As for the right manager getting the right players there's no doubts about that. Instead we totally wasted the summer. Bizarre.

Were sure as hell going to have to pick them from the lower divisions next season cuz that's where we'll be....Johnsons Paint Trophy anyone?
Daggers Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 ..Johnsons Paint Trophy anyone? No thanks, I've already eaten.
Geo V Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 I agree with the thread starter. Who does this Serbian dude think he is, coming in to bail us out of the shite and spending millions of pounds in the process? What a fookin liberty!!!! Bring back the days of being skint and having nothing to look forward to. Bring in the 20 free transfers a season from the lower leagues as Im sick and tired of being linked to decent players and actually attracting good players to the club. Sarcasm aside, his choice of managers hasnt been great in retrospect but no one can have a pop at MM for at least trying.

Daggers Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 spending millions of pounds I believe the figure is closer to half a million from his own pocket. I'm sick and tired of being linked to decent players and actually attracting good players to the club. Jimmy Floyd Toomuchhassel and Robbie ****edup? no one can have a pop at MM for at least trying. Oh but I can. His efforts, like that of the Trust, are lamentable.

His efforts, like that of the Trust, are lamentable. He is here to get us promoted, initially hopefully on the cheap and then reap the rewards before trying something similar with maybe a Leeds or F**est but its going to cost him more than planned but at least he is trying. All we need is a good manager who has an eye for quality players for about 50 pence and we will win the Premiership. Easy Peasy

Daggers Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 ...but at least he is trying. Like a Yorkshire Terrier trying to hump a Great Dane, comical and destined for failure.

Free Falling Foxes Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 Well, Harry Redknapp, on 5live this morning, said what several of us have observed about MM. He said we got 'really lucky' when he was at Portsmouth '........We managed to sign players who played well together and quickly gelled' Luck does play a part but his biggest stroke of luck he had was getting Harry Redknapp. Lightning doesn't strike twice. IH is poor, GM we'll never know & MA......well! I thought he (Ollie) was a good appointment at the time. However, after 8 or 10 games I had reservations. After 15 I had grave doubts & after 20 I was convinced it wasn't going to work-out. Getting rid now wont do us any good but I'll be very supprised if he's here this time next year. Longer term I don't think we'll have any success (promotion) with MM at the helm. I've said before; he'll sell-up citing health or family reasons when his 3 year plan doesn't bare any fruit.

Free Falling Foxes Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 surely this means that harry redknapp considers himself to be merely lucky then Worryingly, he went on to say that Pompeys new owner gave us the funds to sign some 'Really good players'!

Those who expressed even the mildest degree of scepticism prior to his takeover were virulently derided as traitors, scumbags and not true City fans. But their views have been 1000% vindicated during the past 14 months. He's taken us backwards both on and off the pitch.

The phrase "catalogue of errors" springs to mind.
