The Reverend Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 If you are going by this then every player employed by the club then who has appeared for us this season should of travelled to Bramall Lane yesterday.I dont think the team bus would be big enough though. I didnt really explain that properly, what i meant was more the players that have been and are going to be involved, i.e not Douglas, Hammond and them cnuts.
DB11 Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 Since when did assistants have the power to award penalties or issue red cards? Never. However, since they have been used they only ever assist the Referee in awarding and issuing them
Koke Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 The point is - DJ was asked. Possibly. However, I still don't believe Dudley answered with a big fat NO - I doubt Holloway would tolerate such attitude.
Bert Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 Possibly. However, I still don't believe Dudley answered with a big fat NO - I doubt Holloway would tolerate such attitude. That is also a true story.
Thracian Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 I don't want to get the person who told me in to trouble, it's a former player who was in the pub on saturday night and had consumed a little bit too much alcohol, but showed he has real passion for the club. This is 100% true, of that I am sure!I also know he went in to speak to the ref after the game, and the referee said, after hearing what fans were saying, he would be looking at the red card and apologised although saying he did not make the decision, the lino did. On the DJ issue, I think Thrac is wrong, it's a sign of sticking together, if DJ can't be bothered to even make his way up with the team, then we should get rid. Words escape me about the linesman and he should be both banned and demoted for giving something that patently didn't occur but make no mistake the referee made the decision. He's in charge and I am getting sick of hearing apologies for officials who continually make decisions that have the effect of cheating us. In fact were I Mandaric I'd be asking for an inquiry if only to make other people feel as pissed off as he probably is and because I'd like to hear how exactly the linesmen in two cases managed to "see" things that weren't there. There are some vital common sense guidlelines when refereeing. For a start give only what you see and if you're not sure or cannot see the incident properly don't give anything. You certainly shouldn't guess just because some arsehole goes tumbling and this is an increasing problem in football because it seems that if anyone goes over for any reason it's invariably a free kick. The other thing question a referee should ask is what is fair? Betweeen the two a lot of situations are easily sorted. There was no common sense about Saturday's incidents and I would see common sense as the first requirement of any decent official.
