Solihullfox Posted 26 March 2005 Posted 26 March 2005 Just seen the Easter advert for DFS - it's When You're Smiling, a jazzed up version that is not right for the footy but..........FOR GOODNESS SAKE CAN'T THE CLUB GET SOMEONE TO DO A VERSION TO GET THE CROWD SINGING.....Sorry just get frustrated that our club fail time and time again to do anything to get the crowd up for the game at The Walkers. Any suggestions or ideas that we could forward to the club ?
Foxes_Trust Posted 26 March 2005 Posted 26 March 2005 We were aiming to do this & release the track prior to Christmas 2004 Some rehersals have already taken place but progress has been alot slower than we hoped. It has been complicated as some band members involved are based in Manchester (although all City fans) The Trust are now aiming to have it ready for the start of next season. If anybody wants to get involved in this & is a musician or can offer the Trust free studio time then e-mail
Bedford Fox Posted 26 March 2005 Posted 26 March 2005 That would be wiked i'd buy it! Wat do you mean by musicians as me band could come do something but we may not do the song justice!
Jonbluefox9 Posted 26 March 2005 Posted 26 March 2005 When the fans sing this song it's too quick to hear the words and this makes it hard for people that don't know the words to learn them. It could become more of an anthem if it was sung a little slower at games?
Bedford Fox Posted 26 March 2005 Posted 26 March 2005 i think if it was sung slower it would take away alot of its qulity! It sould be sung up tempo rather than slow if it was sung slower it would go on abit long IMO

West Ham, Forever blowing bubbles, Leeds, Marching on together. These wouldn't be effective if they were sung quickly. I can't think of a club that has a quick anthem that all the fans join in with.
shrood Posted 26 March 2005 Posted 26 March 2005 if the trust could do this properly then my opinion of them would increase significantly = just put the word around a few places that you want studio time for the sake of leicester city fc, im sure someone will help out....get a few players in,it will boost the profile of it amazingly, fans favourites (if we have any) if possible....promote it, get them to play it before or at half time of home games....
foxilescom Posted 26 March 2005 Posted 26 March 2005 Has the club ever considered usingthe "When you're Smiling " version by City People from a few ago ? http://www.scoresongs.co.uk/shop/leicestercity-songs.html
Foxes_Trust Posted 26 March 2005 Posted 26 March 2005 Has the club ever considered usingthe "When you're Smiling " version by City People from a few ago ?http://www.scoresongs.co.uk/shop/leicestercity-songs.html 83573 One evening towards the end of last season we sat with Tim Davies in his office & played through 3 versions of Smiling. We felt they were either too slow or sounded like a poor pub band (can't remember if City people was one of the three, but I think it was). Having searched for further versions we came to the conclusion we should try to re-record it. We are aiming to record it at 'crowd' speed and also include a section with the crowd signing it (think we have a number of Kop regulars lined up for this part, but again if you are interested e-mail steve) BedfordFox - please e-mail - as he controls this project & attended the rehearsals so can discuss with you
Jonbluefox9 Posted 27 March 2005 Posted 27 March 2005 We felt they were either too slow Most club anthems are slow though, aren't they? I've been thinking of some others like 'You'll never walk alone' at Liverpool and 'Blue is the colour' at Chelsea. These two along with Leeds and West Ham's anthems are all much slower than the speed that 'When you're smiling' is sung in the crowd and when it is sung only a small group of people join in. I'd prefer us to have an anthem that is related to Leicester anyway.
C-man Posted 27 March 2005 Posted 27 March 2005 yeah, did anyone see serge pizzorno play for the celebs today?
Foxes_Trust Posted 27 March 2005 Posted 27 March 2005 Kasabian should do a version! 83922 That was our first thought. We were in discussions with representatives of Kasabian and they were interested in taking part, however they didn't want to let us down & with the bands popularity growing they didn't feel they could commit sufficient time to it
Stuliasz Posted 27 March 2005 Posted 27 March 2005 Part-time fans that Kasabian lot , I remember hearing them saying quite a few derogatory things about Leicester on Soccer AM one week.
MADLEVEIN Posted 28 March 2005 Posted 28 March 2005 i remember the spurs wortho cup final they played it before the kick-off and it sounded great.
Random Burglar Posted 28 March 2005 Posted 28 March 2005 Im not being bad!! But...Which players are going to be up for it?
stez Posted 28 March 2005 Posted 28 March 2005 the thing with a club song is it means something to the club and fans whether slow or not, it doesn't have to be for the players to come out to, just something that's played before kick off maybe between the players going off after warming up and kick off and still play the carling thing when the players come out if they must! post sposored by 'lackofgrammer.com' edit: i've just downloaded 'when you're smiling' by micheal buble and its very fast and very jazz! its a fantastic version in fact
Deathside Posted 28 March 2005 Posted 28 March 2005 Think about clubs with anthems. West Ham, Forever blowing bubbles, Leeds, Marching on together. Deathside Posted 28 March 2005 Posted 28 March 2005 Part-time fans that Kasabian lot , I remember hearing them saying quite a few derogatory things about Leicester on Soccer AM one week I guess that also makes me a part time fan? - I have said, and I still do say, plenty of derogatory things about Leicester - Although not on Soccer AM

Now CL has come in i'll admit we have been much better but fuk playing well, I want my team to actually win, you get nowhere playing well, you do - Winning, I'd happily watch my team playing bad but win! I'm sick and tired coming on boards, listening to phone ins, listening to people before matches and lieing...but because i'm telling the truth i'm not a true fan am I
Wellman Posted 28 March 2005 Posted 28 March 2005 So that's why Wellman loves Kasabian 84181 No they are a quality band and it makes it even better that they support Leicester! :D Jelous
CasinoGee Posted 28 March 2005 Posted 28 March 2005 Why would I be?! We had Sigourney Weaver at our ground yesterday
