Leicester's 12th Man Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 And they thought they had a penalty when Stearman was felled just inside the area but a free-kick was given and Hume fired over. Was at the ground and didn't see too much of a reaction when the free kick was given? Anyone else agree with the BBC and think it was a penalty and not a free kick?
Father Ted Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 Was at the ground and didn't see too much of a reaction when the free kick was given?Anyone else agree with the BBC and think it was a penalty and not a free kick? I thought it was literally on the line?
Ozwin Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 It wasn't a penalty but at the time everyone in our pub was adamant about it. We were cheering and everything, oh how stupid we felt when it was just a free kick and Hume lofted it over the bar.
thecannon Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 I think it was just outside the box stoke cliiped the players feet outside the box!
Leicester's 12th Man Posted 4 May 2008 Author Posted 4 May 2008 Typical BBC then I was sure it was only a free kick and you have confirmed my suspcisions
Durnerz Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 To be fair we survived a massive penalty shout when McAuley handled, albeit accidentally, could have gone against us.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 To be fair we survived a massive penalty shout when McAuley handled, albeit accidentally, could have gone against us. I thought that was a good tackle And it wasnt a penalty just outside the box.
Father Ted Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 To be fair we survived a massive penalty shout when McAuley handled, albeit accidentally, could have gone against us. I thought that it was Howard?
csadfox67 Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 To be fair we survived a massive penalty shout when McAuley handled, albeit accidentally, could have gone against us. accept the fact that we are just about at the bottom of hell, unless MM pulls the plug then we could all be watching them play at vicy park!
philce Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 Was at the ground and didn't see too much of a reaction when the free kick was given?Anyone else agree with the BBC and think it was a penalty and not a free kick? Free kick, 20 yards from me. What Hume thought he was trying to do with the free kick is another matter!
Durnerz Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 I thought that it was Howard? The one where Fuller hit it, McAuley came diving in to block, clipped his arm and henderson made the save.
Father Ted Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 The one where Fuller hit it, McAuley came diving in to block, clipped his arm and henderson made the save. Oh right, yes, but there was hardly anything in that, but just before that when the ball was bobbling around in the area, there was a clear shout for handball.
Stuliasz Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 To be fair, there were a couple of 'could have been given' penalty appeals against us so I don't think we can complain about ours not being given.
Corky Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 To be fair we survived a massive penalty shout when McAuley handled, albeit accidentally, could have gone against us. Yes, well Stoke didn't deserve a penalty because of the pathetic dive by Lawrence in the second half. Disgraceful The contact on Stearman was outside the box, but he fell inside.
Father Ted Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 To be fair, there were a couple of 'could have been given' penalty appeals against us so I don't think we can complain about ours not being given. Yes, but none of them were actually genuine like the Lawrence dive.
mikelcfc Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 was on row 3 behind the goal and it looked dead on the line, thus meaning it was a pen. the freekick was always to close for hume. needed to be bout 22-25 yards
Flynny Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 His body and front foot was over the line, but his trailing standing foot, which was clipped, was an inch or two behind the line.
Ultra Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 Just a touch outside. Refs have given jack for us all season. They weren't going to start giving us favours today. Mawhinney must have got stuck into the champagne today...
