Ric Flair Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 It says it's an 18 hole play off though. His knee must be taking some punishment. Mentally, Woods is the strongest sportsman in the history of Sport. He'll be in a lot of pain, but his mental preperation that he goes through (i've studied it) is far more stronger than any ligament, muscle or bone. He'll destroy Mediate tonight IMO.

Holing a 12ft putt on the last to take it to a play-off takes so much mental strength. I have never really liked Woods but he is a class sportsman. The only surprise was that he didnt finish it off yesterday, he always performs on day 4.
Joe. Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 It's going to take something special from Mediate to pull it off now. Tiger's three shots up after ten, can't see him messing this up now.
Joinesy77 Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 Woods is an absolute golfing legend! To come through his injury, be that out of form and still win is awesome. One of the true sporting greats of modern times
Ultra Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Woods is an absolute golfing legend! To come through his injury, be that out of form and still win is awesome. One of the true sporting greats of modern times Amen. Hope he's fit enough to play in the Open next month.
Ric Flair Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Looks like he might be out of action for 2 months after putting himself through that. Also fears of permanent damage, but that won't stop him. I can't see how anyone couldn't be in awe of Woods. He's not my favourite golfer by a long shot but every time he plays and get's in contention of winning, part of me wants him to go on and keep winning and winning. He's a phenomenon.
Uncle Albert Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 So am I right in saying Woods will be out of The Open?

I find him a little boring as a bloke and I think he's a bit grumpy sometimes. But his ability to close out competitions and make his playing partners crumble is so impressive.
lildave3 Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Woods misses rest of golfing year due to knee surgery.
Number 6 Posted 18 June 2008 Author Posted 18 June 2008 Woods misses rest of golfing year due to knee surgery. I get the feeling that actually gives USA a better chance of winning the Ryder Cup.
C-man Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Reteif Goosen suggested today that Woods pretended he was in more pain than he was, claiming that 'he only winced when he hit a bad shot'. I bet he feels like a twat now!
The Reverend Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Its dissappointing to be hearing a player like Goosen saying such things. He's usually such an easy going fella aswel - certainly not the sort to stir things up like this. But i bet he feels like a bit of an idiot now.

Perhaps someone should make a comment in the press that Goosen was putting it on when he got struck by lightening twice as a kid. That would shut the coont up.

That would shut the coont up. Apparently Woods' knee made so much noise it sounded like a geriatric stick insects' yoga class.
Uncle Albert Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Apparently Woods' knee made so much noise it sounded like a geriatric stick insects' yoga class. Im no expert but that doesnt sound good. Think it was Paul Casey who said you could hear his knee going whenever he was hitting off the tee.
Ultra Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I get the feeling that actually gives USA a better chance of winning the Ryder Cup. It probably does. Great golfer though Tiger is, he has never quite been able to grasp the concept of team play.
