Daggers Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 So, to summarise, there was masses of trouble during the tournament because there are a handful of photographs (devoid of recorded dates & locations) and some unverifiable YouTube footage...because none of the media in any of the European countries were interested in reporting on this vast outbreak of destruction spreading over Austria and Switzerland. Does anyone have anything even remotely approaching a verifiable fact?

That this country has far less to worry to worry about hooligan wise than 6 or 7 countries i could mention . I do my personal best to stay out of trouble but i have absolutly no worries when travelling with England . No number of nobheads will stop me following my nation
Sparky Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 The tournament was obviously diluted by the non appearance of England and until Spain beat England again they cannot call themselves the true champions of European international football

No number of nobheads will stop me following my nation ...and my initial point was: is there any evidence to demonstrate widespread violence not including the known about Germany-Poland match or the handful of arrests (12) following Turkey-Croatia? I care little for England's ranking as the team with the biggest problem vs. the sixth or seventh worse team because 'there's those with a greater problem' - this isn't about comparisons...it's simply about corroborative fact. Statements have been made about the "huge" problem this tournament has had with hooliganism and I was interested to see what level this was. As it turns out no one seems to be able to provide anything other than links to the two events you have shown or some emotive pictures. But, pictures without providence are no source of fact as they give no clear understanding of where the problem took place and (most importantly) when. I'm simply trying to understand what allegedly took place and why and, as yet, can't see anything to suppport the allegations that this tourno has has any problems beyond one major incident which should have been dealt with much better. Alex - anything Swiss-related that could shed some light on this?

Alex - anything Swiss-related that could shed some light on this? It depends on what you mean by widespread violence?. Would you be happy with a few chairs being thrown like english fans did in the 2006 world cup? Because if you think thats widespread and england fans cause loads of trouble then yes it was widespread. The ultra forum has reports of plenty of fighting, pictures, videos even a few reports (like I said european press dont highlight trouble like the english press does). Not sure what else we can show you.
