MC Prussian Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Apart from some sponsoring, security and black market issues, I thoroughly enjoyed the tournament - even though I was sceptic at first that we'd never be able to create a contagious atmosphere of Portugal 2004 or Germany 2006 inside as well as outside the stadia. All in all, it's been a peaceful and smooth few weeks. The level of football played on the pitch mostly impressive (with a few exceptions like France, Romania, Greece and Italy). So, what's your verdict on this tournament that is about to end soon? Exclamating the absence of England, did you like what you saw? Was it entertaining? Worthwile watching (I take it most of you were watching it at home)? Your good vs. bad match-up, please.

I loved Turkey and the drama that always involved them, much better than I thought it would have been but just the atmosphere around England was missing and the tournament was way too short, although I hear that Platini wants to have 24 teams in Euro 2016 with 16 going through, 1st and 2nd with the 4 best 3rd placed teams. Some teams were dissapointments, others over-achievers but that's what we should have expected.
purpleronnie Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 By far and away the most entertaining Euro's I've seen.
Ashley Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Considering I said to my self I wasnt going to watch the Euro's because England wasnt in it, I watched every game. I've liked watching Spain and hope they win it tomorrow.
Fox You Forest Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Most definetly enjoyed it much more than i thought i would, Holland and Spain great viewing in the group stages. Turkey had so much drama in almost every game and even inbetween games with injuries and suspensions. Would have been nice to see one of the Hosts go a little further. Best game - Turkey 3-2 Czech Republic Worst game - Spain 0-0 Italy (by a long long way!) Best player - Xavi or Iniesta Worst player - Luca Toni

Ashley Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 I thought the Venue's could of been better but what do you expect when Austira and Switzerland are small countries.
Uncle Albert Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 I have really enjoyed the tournament and have watched most games, Spain, Holland, Portugal and Russia have by far entertained me the most. I just feel if England were out there that they would of done well. Stadiums have been pretty good, except from the dodgy pitch in Basel. Thankfully it hasnt really affected the quality of football. All in all has been a good tournament.
David O'Leary Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Best Game - Holland 4 - 1 France Worst Game - France 0 - 0 Romania Best Player - Cesc Fabregas Worst Player - Nicolas Anelka
Uncle Albert Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Best Game - Holland 4 - 1 France Worst Game - France 0 - 0 Romania Best Player - Cesc Fabregas Worst Player - Nicolas Anelka Best player? He has only started one game.
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Best player? He has only started one game. he's never had less than 30 minutes though and I agree he's been sublime whenever he's come on.
David O'Leary Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Best player? He has only started one game. Has come on almost every other one though
purpleronnie Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Rubbish atmosphere (England weren't involved) Yeah right, the croatians we're terrible so were the polish, turks, and practically every other nations fans  They showed how support should be and not just singing the national anthem over and over again, that doesnt make a good atmosphere.
Sparky Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Not a tournament that i will remember purely for England absence but credit where its due its been a fairly good tournament with some cracking football played
dandannieldanok Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Rubbish atmosphere (England weren't involved) That's complete bollocks, England fans could probably have outnumbered most of the nations, if not all of them there, but as far as noise and passion goes we are far behind.
StroudFox Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 I have thoroughly enjoyed the games and I think it has been better because England were not there because there was none of the ridiculous hype that always follows an underperforming England team. In group stages, I enjoyed watching Holland, Portugal and Spain. Think most of the games have been entertaining apart from some of the ones Greece, France and Italy were in. Italy and France big unperformers for me. Can't wait for the final, hope it is a good one.
Floating Fox Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Good tournament to be fair. Didn't think it would be this good. Definatly better than Portugal a couple of years ago. Stadiums were good, but there were very few of them, and they were all similar as well. Innsbruck stadium is amazing though to be fair.

SamL Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 I wasn't planning on watching a lot of it due to us not being in it, but I think it's been great.I think I've enjoyed it more because we haven't been in it. It's been a very entertaining tournament with Turkeys performances being the highlight. I think it's a shame some teams and players haven't lived up to their reputations because if they had, it could have been a better tournament.
Jack Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Said to myself at the start of the tournament I wasn't going to watch any of it because there was no England, but I have watched more or less every game and have enjoyed it too. I liked watching Russia play and was dead impressed by Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko. One of the best part of the whole tournament has to be the Turk's comeback from 2-0 down to win it 3-2. I reckon Germany to win tonight.
Joe. Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 I think this tournament has been fantastic to be honest and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Obviously I would have been even more engaged if England had been a part of it but in some ways it's nice because we didn't have to go through the disappointment of another quarter-final penalty exit and then not give a shit about the rest of it. One thing's for sure- there's been plenty of excitement. Goals galore and shocks galore too. Turkey have been nothing short of top quality entertainment (taking final 5 mins into account every time )and there's been some superb football on display from Holland, Spain and even Russia at times. I've thoroughly enjoyed this tournament and I just hope it comes to its rightful ending with the Spaniards lifting the trophy.

They've been by far the most consistent and attractive team in this tournament whilst Germany have had a few slip ups. I think Spain deserve to win.
