Stearman Out for the Season

Stearman Injury Blow

City boss Craig Levein has revealed that Richard Stearman faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

The 17-year-old centre-half cum right-back bagged his first goal for the Foxes in only his third start against Millwall on Saturday.

But after breaking into the first team frame it now looks as though he will miss the rest of the campaign.

Levein said: "Richard will be out for three to four weeks. He's young so should recover quickly but I don't know whether or not we will see him again this season.

"He was a real plus point for us on Saturday. You have to remember that he is only 17 and he is currently playing out of position. He's a centre-back but we feel that he is a bit light at this moment in time to be pitched in against someone like Danny Dichio.

"He's got good pace and gets up and down. He's also got good legs as you would imagine for somebody his age.

"He is eager to learn and is decent on the ball. It's just unfortunate that he had to go off against Millwall as we lost a bit of attacking menace down that side of the pitch afterwards."

What a pity, he played really well, but we could see he was struggling before he was subbed.

Let's hope his recovery is swift.

hopefully while his ankle's mending he'll get on the weights and build himself up. he was great on saturday though, and not just because he scored

what a shame, i missed the game on saturday because i was in ireland, but ive only heard good things about him, so hopefully he'll recover quickly and we'll see him as a regular first-teamer next year :)

Damn that really sucks - for him, the club and the fans.

:(

It was like the Millwall defence had targeted him for some rough treatment, first the elbow in the face then a really nasty tackle... fkin dirty bastards.:mad::mad:

Awful news, but a plus may come of this. I was told at the weekend that Craig is hoping to introduce Alan Sheehan next to the first team, so as one door closes another one opens - with Stearman out he could possibly move Maybury back to right back and play him at left back tomorrow. Would prefer Dawson to be given a go though

the introduction of sheehan would indeed be welcome or maybe even canero might be reintroduced and i'd like to see him given a bit more of a chance although that would mean maybury at left back still...

Bad news for the young lad , Hopefully he will recover fast and make a few more games before the end of the season...

Craig Levein sounds very disapointed with this news. If you watch the interview with him on LCFC WORLD, all he has is praise for the kid :D

Like we all have :D

Gutted about the news. I wasn't at the game, but it didn't surprise me that he played as well as people made out.

It would be nice to see Sheehan given a chance. When I watched him play for the reserves this season, he looked an accomplished player at left back. He's got a thunderbolt of a free kick on him. ;)
