davieG Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 I had some Abbey shares which are now Santander shares I hope this doesn't knock the value of them or future dividends.

Depends on how the city took the news this morning - if they feel it's a positive move by Santander then there shares should go up. And with the indication that they are aquiring them at a 'bargin price' I'm sure that would be the case. However, with them lumping out 12 Billion to pay for it - that could effect profits meaning the future dividends may not be as much as they were. It's an interesting situation though, and I'm sure one that will eak a few others in a bad situation searching for help.

Plus I would imagine that the integration with Abbey has only recently been closed off. They are currently also integrating Fortis bank from the ABN Amro purchase. If you're a project manager and speak spanish, I'd be getting on the plane to Santander now!

lookwhaticando Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 Hopefully, with their new found riches, they'll sponsor our shirt again so we can remove Spongebob. The + logo will be gone, to be replaced by that funny looking pile of god-knows-what (see Abbey or Santander bank images).
