Chairman of the Bored Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 Just got this. Excellent. Really liked Maxinquaye - all those years ago. This is as good as. Well worth hearing, I'd say. Mixed by Bernard Butler (ex-Suede) so real diversity of sounds, trip-hop, soul, pop. 8/10.
Guest Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 Cheers COTB, been meaning to check this out. I heard it was quite diverse musically. I get paid tomorrow so I forsee a trip to HMV on the cards
hairy Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 Bit of a Tricky fanatic here. It is a great album but then I think Blowback and Juxtapose are better. But great to see him back. Remember he is terrible live.
Daggers Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 It's at times like this I love file-sharing. Album download, listened to and now declared to be stunningly boring. That has saved me the cost of a CD based on the reviews of others, Phube. This is why file-sharing rocks. This album is dull.

You're normally reliable taste is a tad wayward here. My continuing assessment is 8/10. But then life's all about differences of opinion, eh? Or summat...

But then life's all about differences of opinion, eh? Or summat... I loved Blowback - for me this one though just seems to plod aimlessly, hoping to stumble upon inspiration or a catchy rift. I think Manu Chao does the looping refrain so much better and as for the trippy-hoppiness of it...there's a wealth of better exponents. 'Reliable taste' though? Have a word! I like 70's prog-rock and Shakira!
Finnegan Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 this piece is my recital! I think it's very vital! to rock a rhym that rock's on time!
