Alexikokopops Posted 13 August 2008 Author Posted 13 August 2008 I, as a young man, having travelled through Miletus to see the spectacle of the Olympic Games, I travelled through the whole of Thessaly and reached Larissa... I had to remember the English translation of that for my GCSE. Bloody ridiculous. And this one too, amongst others. Now all I can really remember is "I don't give a damn!". FLOCCI NON FACIO!
Guest Posted 13 August 2008 Posted 13 August 2008 I wanted to go to grammar school, and learn Latin and The Classics. Stupid parents.
Father Ted Posted 13 August 2008 Posted 13 August 2008 Yes, yes he is I learned Latin for 2 years and most of what I remember was Caecilius est in horto. That ambulat is walk and that canem is dog. And that ego is I.
Alexikokopops Posted 14 August 2008 Author Posted 14 August 2008 Didn't Caecilius have a hot wife? Metella? She was a fox. Next time I go to my parents house I'm going to dig out the photos of Caecilius' house. Then you'll ALL be jealous.

Alexikokopops Posted 14 August 2008 Author Posted 14 August 2008 Caecilius dominus est! Caecilius est in dominus.
The People's Hero Posted 14 August 2008 Posted 14 August 2008 Caecilius est in dominus. How did Quintus fit in to the story? He was gay, right?
Alexikokopops Posted 14 August 2008 Author Posted 14 August 2008 How did Quintus fit in to the story? He was gay, right? Probably, most of them were in Roman times if I learnt anything from my Welsh Latin teacher. Quintus was Caecilius' son who survived the eruption of Vesuvius along with Clemens. He ended up in Alexandria if I remember correctly.

Our Latin Teacher had a nervous breakdown and from then on our headteacher tried to teach us it (he'd never done Latin before in his life). Hazy days.
