My car need's a CD player. Whats the best/cheapest place to buy and get one fitted around Loughborough/Leicester?

Preferably one that you can connect an Ipod to.

BUT...

Using my internet skills, i think i've worked out exactly what i need to fit one myself.

-A fascia (pretty sure its already in there. It's 7 years old ffs, SOMEONE must of had a CD player in there!)

-Male aerial adaptor (ebay)

-ISO wiring loom (also ebay)

And then obviously the actual cd player, obviously.

So, anyone with any knowledge of fitting CD players care to correct me if i'm wrong? Or have i got it spot on?

Also, does anyone know if you get the ISO and aerial adaptor when you buy a cd player? If you dont, i might just get those bits now in preparation.

My 2000 Astra had a factory fit cassette player in it, and I swapped this for a nice Kenwood CD player - the only extra bit of stuff I needed was an adaptor so that the steering wheel controls would work it

If it's a newer style fiesta then it doesn't have a standard slot and you have to buy a new facia from Ford and get that fitted before you can fit a regular CD player. Not sure about any other cars.

You can get 'Double Din' stereos for the bigger slots but they're usually stupid expensive (£400-£500). I know because I've looked myself. Don't know about Ford adaptors but at least they make them - you have to get after market ones for Vauxhalls - a right pain in the arse

Mate fitting car stereos is extremely easy and almost impossible to cock up, its not worth paying someone to do it.

First of all, what car do you have? Most cars have the standard size cd player hole in the dash, but if you've got something like a Ford Fiesta you will have to get hold of a new facia for it (eBay is a cheap bet).

It doesn't tell you how to get your old stereo out but that can usually be done with some small screwdrivers of getting what are known as the "keys" off eBay (2 strips on shaped metal which slide inbetween the stereo and its metal caddy and unclip it from the caddie)

If you need any more advice just give us a shout.

I've got a Vauxhall Corsa mate! the radio in it has already been removed and is loose, so i can just slide it out!

What's the tell tale sign of having a fascia plate installed already? I have what i think is one installed already, but i'm not 100 percent sure!

EDIT: Corsa Fascia Thatwhat is needed, and it looks pretty much exactly the same as what i have! It'd be good if i had a pic of one without the fascia, then i could just say yeh, thats it!

<i> Usually </i> you dont need an iso wiring loom, if you buy a cd player they usualy come with the loom.

Iv just bought a kenwood something or other, came with all connectors and wires plugged it into my corsa which had a stock tape player in it, work perfectly, except my dash board but that only works when the stereo is now on ...

Yeah i get you now, mine's just about 7 years old, so i need a ''higher'' one - and i'm 90% sure i do have one installed. I just need a picture of one without a fascia installed so i can say yes, its definitely got one! If you know what i mean!

Have a look, the inside picture of that car looks very similar to mine, excfept the ''cubby hole'' in mine is smaller.

I'll just have to wait and see i guess. i'm guessing there isnt a universal fascia plate for Corsa's, and that the cubby hole will be different sizes, so im guessing i ll just have to wait until i get my stereo and if it fits great, if not, i ll get a fascia!

aye thats all you got to do, but as what was said before, with your new stereo you get everything you need. The only thing that might be need is an areal plug convertor which are about £3 for halfords, but i wouldn't worry about that until you know what you need!

UPDATE:

I've got it, its all fitted, i had to make a hole in the fascia to fit the ipod lead through (the ipod slots at the back of the stereo, how stupids that?), but thats done, all fully working, except the actual radio. Now, i have a male aerial adapter, i've plugged it in how i think it should go, but its just fuzzy, and i cant really hear anything.

Any ideas anyone?
