Samilktray Posted 6 October 2008 Author Posted 6 October 2008 Where's the download point for this mate? Download.
Samilktray Posted 6 October 2008 Author Posted 6 October 2008 Gutted. I forgot to put a bit of Wiley on there, and Bashy.
FoxTrott Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 It was tarnished when you put them stupid/chavy songs on. What? A Shingler post with no spelling/gramatical errors whatsoever? This thread has brought out the best of you Jake. Sorry to burst your bubble but it those chavvy songs, not them.
Poakey Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 It was tarnished when you put them stupid/chavy songs on.
Tilley Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 Will give this a download later Sammy boy. Oh, & JS = idiot.
Tevez Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 Give this a blast before training tonight Milk then I'll do you some reviews.

Rodderz Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 Nu Brand Flex are in charge right now. Fact!"Its time for the raaaaaaangoose!" Erm fair play to if you like this music lets just say me and "Grime" arnt the best of friends Il stick to my Indie Rock Thanks
lcfc_jme Posted 8 October 2008 Posted 8 October 2008 Meeeeeh. "Grime" has changed dramatically since I listened to it during secondary school. Ultra-commercial (well, attempting to be) now as opposed to the specifically underground, angry, fast-paced stuff it used to be (I'm talking before Dizzt Rasca;, Wiley, Kano and Lerthal B etc tried breaking into the mainstrewam). Logan Sama on KissFM (Monday nights) is good to listen to for a bit of a feel of the old-breed of Grime, if you're interested. Couples it with some new stuff as well, so it caters for all interestedin that music. Bloke called P-Money is fcking quality.
Jay Posted 8 October 2008 Posted 8 October 2008 The fact that Lemar and Akon appear on the sway album puts me right off listening to it
The Reverend Posted 10 October 2008 Posted 10 October 2008 Having had this in my car a for a few days, i've gave it a decent listen...1 - This Is My Demo - Sway....Didnt really like this. 5/10 2 - Ghost Town - Ghetto...Not bad, not my favourite by any means, but a decent track. 6/10 3 - Sometimes - Kano...Pretty good, nice beat, good lyrics. 7/10 4 - Little Derek - Sway...I liked this a lot to be honest. 7/10 5 - Its Murda - Klashnekoff...Didnt like this much. 4/10 6 - P's & Q's - Kano...Love Kano, this is a great track, a bit hardcore, but i like it (which tells you something because i dont normally like that sorta stuff). 8/10 7 - You'll Get Wrapped - Lethal Bizzle...Reasonable, but not my favourite. 5/10 8 - Black Rose - Klashnekoff...Love this song, very good. 8/10 9 - Celebrate - Roll Deep... I do like Roll Deep, and i liked this too. 7/10 10 - Awfully Deep - Roots Manuva...Not bad at all. 6/10 11 - Xtra - Ruff Sqwad...I quite liked this one, not bad. 6.5/10 12 - Mind Your Head - Lethal Bizzle...Really liked this one, liked the sort of electronic sound, nice. 7.5/10 13 - Doin' It Again (Duppy) - Skepta (Boy Better Know)... Didnt really like this one. 4/10 14 - Jason Waste - Sway...Really enjoyed this one, Streets influenced, tell's a story, good lyrics, good beat. Very clever. Very impressed. 7.5/10 15 - Again & Again - Roots Manuva... I'm a fan of Roots, and i enjoyed this song, though i had heard it before. 7/10 16 - Mountain - Ghetto... Didnt like this at all. 5/10 17 - Stop Dat - Dizzee Rascal... I dont mind Dizzee, decent track. 6/10 18 - Hunting We Will Go - Kano...Love this track, excellent. 7.5/10 19 - Full Efect - Tinchy Stryder...Solid end track, heard this one before. 6.5/10 All in all, i quite enjoyed it, my liking for hip hop/grime is increasing, this is a pretty good edvert for it. Obviously i know all about Kano (reall enjoy his stuff, London town is good, need to give 140 Grime St a proper listen), and Roots Manuva, who has made some excellent tracks, aswel as Roll Deep, Dizzee and Lethal Bizzle. I think i'll be finding out a bit more about Sway, enjoyed Little Derek and Jason Waste a lot. So thanks for that Samilktray. Good effort.
Samilktray Posted 10 October 2008 Author Posted 10 October 2008 Cheers for that Rev, glad you enjoyed some of it.
Tevez Posted 10 October 2008 Posted 10 October 2008 I'll type out the track list while I can be bothered, This is the order I intended it to be in, but when I zipped it up it lost that track list.Download. 1 - This Is My Demo - Sway. 5/10 Average. 2 - Ghost Town - Ghetto. 7/10 Yeah like this one aswell tbh, sounds abit like Kano but decent. 3 - Sometimes - Kano. 7/10 Decent Calmer Kano song for a change. Nice. 4 - Little Derek - Sway. 8/10 Love this song. 5 - Its Murda - Klashnekoff. 6.75/10 yeah it's alreet, heard much better though. 6 - P's & Q's - Kano. 8/10 Still love this tune even though it's been overplayed last year in our school common room. 7 - You'll Get Wrapped - Lethal Bizzle. 6/10 Yeah not too bad, still think Pow his Lethal B's better tune or "Had to go" 8 - Black Rose - Klashnekoff. 7/10 bit of a better track than "It's Murda" decent tune. 9 - Celebrate - Roll Deep. 5/10 One of Roll Deeps worser tracks. 10 - Awfully Deep - Roots Manuva. 5/10 Mediocre. 11 - Xtra - Ruff Sqwad. 5/10 Sounds ok I guess, average at best sounds like a 13 year old mc but faster! 12 - Mind Your Head - Lethal Bizzle. See 7. 13 - Doin' It Again (Duppy) - Skepta (Boy Better Know). Not a fan of anyone from Boy Better Know tbh but this is alright 6/10 again see 11. 14 - Jason Waste - Sway. 8/10 Track and a half. 15 - Again & Again - Roots Manuva. 8/10 Decent tune!!! 16 - Mountain - Ghetto. 4/10 So-So 17 - Stop Dat - Dizzee Rascal. 6/10 Yeah not to bad thanks, bit of a change considering his last track was Come and Dance with Me. Hard for him to come back into songs like this. Big differents. 18 - Hunting We Will Go - Kano. 7/10 Love the start, alreet track tbh. 19 - Full Efect - Tinchy Stryder. Stryderman was alreet track can't say this tickles my pickle 5/10 To be honest Milktray I thought it was pretty good. After a few listens I thought it was decent. Little Derek and Again and Again were the ones that appealed to me. Not really a fan of Kano or Dizzee atm not sure why. But overall I'll give it 7.5-8/10. Nice one
Cal Posted 10 October 2008 Posted 10 October 2008 Good list, thought you could have added abit more variety in there though
JoeyB Posted 10 October 2008 Posted 10 October 2008 Not really into this type of music but will give it a go. Will have it on, on the way to work 2mora, and stuff, let you know what i think tues poss
Samilktray Posted 11 October 2008 Author Posted 11 October 2008 Cheers for the review Tevez, n cheers lads for giving it a go.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Sway - This Is My Demo Good choice for an opener. Atmospheric. I liked the mention for Haringey. I hate skits. Haven't marked the song down for that though. 7/10 Ghetto - Ghost Town Another atmospheric one. Could do with a bit more variation in the production. 6/10 Kano - Sometimes I like this too. Sounds genuine and like he has something to say that's worth hearing. 6/10 Sway - Little Derek Have always found this song annoying, sorry. Gimmicky. 4/10 Klashnekoff - It's Murda Seen this name around a lot but never appealed to me. I don't think there's enough remarkable about this at all - like a poor version of Foreign Beggars - Hold On. 4/10 Kano - Ps and Qs Like it again. I don't see the fuss about the likes of Kanye West when some of our own are producing decent tracks like this which are no worse. Just me, though. 7/10 Lethal Bizzle - You'll Get Wrapped Everything about it is quality. 9/10 Klashnekoff - Black Rose A bit better than the first one. His voice doesn't carry enough weight for my liking. 5/10 Roll Deep - Celebrate "Non-stop gash, penetrate that, the album went silver, celebrate that"? Not the best chorus I've ever heard! I like the production on it. I never bother too much with lyrics anyway thankfully. 7/10 Roots Manuva - Awfully Deep I've criminally ignored Roots Manuva for a long time (since Witness, basically) - it's difficult to keep track of everyone when you spread your taste thinly. 7/10 Ruff Sqwad - Extra Nah this isn't for me. It might be an anti-gun message but I can't understand the chap so I'll have to decline this one I'm afraid. Brap. 3/10 Lethal Bizzle - Mind Your Head Nowhere near as good as the other one by him. Bit dull, I thought. 4/10 Skepta - Doin' It Again Four on the floor! Techno, techno, techno, techno! Did he make this in his bedroom by any chance? The variation of beats is interesting but that's about it. 3/10 Sway - Jason Waste I listened to this whole thing in work the other day and this was the one that grabbed me more than any other, basically because it is definitely by far the most impressive thing on here. Reminds me of the first time I heard My Name Is (can draw a lot of similarities between the two). And of course the lyrics are hilarious as well as brilliant ("They said I'm fat, I need to go to the gym, I don't want to be fat, I want to be slim, did a minute on a treadmill, went for a swim" ). 10/10 Roots Manuva - Again & Again The bar has been raised then... Nice horns. I downloaded this album a couple of weeks ago but haven't really listened to it yet. This may encourage me. 7/10 Ghetto - Mountain I think there's a fairly valid reason that Kano and Sway are a notch higher than this mob, although double-checking, I liked the first one. 3/10 Dizzee Rascal - Stop Dat Can never make my mind up about this fellow. He's just a bit too busy for me. Calm down. Have a nice cup of tea and a sit down. 5/10 Kano - Hunting We Will Go Didn't like this as much. 6/10 Tinchy Stryder - Full Effect It's alright, pretty standard stuff I'd have thought. 5/10

The more strictly Grime stuff is the stuff getting a more critical review than the Hip-Hop stuff, but I have always maintained that Grime isnt everyones cup of tea. I think looking back on the tracklisting now there is a lot of stuff I'd swap.

Given that you knocked this up very quickly, I think it's really good. Look forward to the US one.
