Asha Posted 15 October 2008 Posted 15 October 2008 **EXCLUSIVE** - interview with Ashley Jupp. Interviewer: Good evening Ashley, how are you? AJ: I'm good thanks, yourself? Interviewer: Yes fine. Firstly, last season...you finished 7th. How did you feel about the season overall and how did the final outcome compare to your preconceptions? AJ: It depends which way you look really. My 7th place finish was an improvement on the shocking season previous in the Red Bull. Last season brought my best points total to date, and therefore my best season in Formula Foxestalk so far. However, the other side of me ended up slightly disappointed. I was in probably the best car and failed to make an impression on the title race...which is my obvious dream. I'm still learning really but it seems others are learning a lot faster than I am. Interviewer: Last season bought your first Formula Foxestalk victory...what did that mean to you? AJ: That day meant a lot. Winning my first race proved to myself most of all that I was capable. I was never going to give up, or show less effort in any way, but it just gave me the motivation to keep pushing and hopefully some day become the best. That day, I fought back from more or less the back of the field to win. It was a magic day, well chuffed with it. Interviewer: Which team are you in for the new season? AJ: I'm part of Force Shenussulouth, in the Bat7 carset...my team leader is Chris Louth, and also in the team is Adrian Shen. Interviewer: What are you views on your team mates? AJ: Well I worked with Chris at Sauber in my first season, learnt a lot from him and looking forward to working with him again. He has won the last 3 championships so is clearly the best driver...it's actually a massive honour for me that he would want me in my team. Adrian Shen showed a lot of promise at the end of last season in the Spyker. Surely a future champion aswell, looking forward to this season so much. Interviewer: So what are your hopes for this season? AJ: Well, first and most obvious, to improve on 7th. However I'm a very results orientated person, and very competitive. We have a fantastic team. I'm not going to go all cocky and declare we're going to win the constructors, but to be honest, we're probably going to win the constructors. In terms of the drivers, who knows? A lot depends on luck, and learning from past experiences...and I learnt a lot from trying a few things out at the end of last season. High hopes, definately. Interviewer: In terms of each championship...who would you say was your main rival? AJ: I think Andy's team is looking strong. Everyone's a rival really. Interviewer: As usual, I'm going to ask your prediction for the drivers and constructors championships... AJ: Of course. I hope we will win the constructors, I don't know with the drivers...I hope it's someone from our team. Between you and me, I think whatever team Southam manages to assemble will really struggle.
