RizLCFC Posted 24 October 2008 Posted 24 October 2008 I was dreading his return to City and was hoping his loan would be extended, he adds a bit of experience to the squad, but, his performances last season in a City shirt were fairly woeful, I was fairly shocked when Hayles was in the 16 for the Walsall game though I think that was more through desperatin from Nigel, he's scored a couple of goals for Cheltenham this season, could he offer us anything?

RizLCFC Posted 24 October 2008 Author Posted 24 October 2008 He was not alone Last year is history. Look at Fryatt, Howard etc. I had a feeling someone would say that, and I understand what you are saying, but, this season Fryatt and Howard are our prime forwards, where would Hayles fit in? Can he offer us anything? Apart from experience.

Can he offer us anything? Apart from experience. Like other players in our squad, he has not yet had the oppertunity. Pearson clearly recognises that Howard and Fryatt our our two 'prime' forwards from what he has seen in training and stuck with them. Hayles, along with DJ, Dickov and possibly Chambers will need to show their worth as and when the oppertunity presents itself. Until then, it is hard to judge what impact 'Big Barry' can have. I would suggest that his recent short term loan and appearence on the bench on Tuesday indicates that Pearson has given him the chance to get match fit and is ready to give him a go.
Joe. Posted 24 October 2008 Posted 24 October 2008 Barry will return to the team. One day. He's like the prodical son.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 24 October 2008 Posted 24 October 2008 I hope I'm wrong when I say I see someone like Barry Chuckle having a bigger impact on our season than Barry Hayles. Prove me from Bazzer. Funny how the name 'Barry' is frequently associated with losers or berks...Barry Chuckle, Barry from EastEnders, Barry Hayles...
Rodders Posted 24 October 2008 Posted 24 October 2008 I'd imagine it's probably got less to do with Hayles' obvious blistering pace, colossial aerial prowess and razor-sharp predatory goal-poaching instincts and more do with the fact that Campbell, Dickov & Chambers are injured and Pearson presumably doesn't think any of the U18s are ready to make the step up yet. Can't really see a role for him this season - if there was one, I'd have thought Nigel would have thrown him on on Tuesday, even if just for the final few minutes to try and clinch the win.
Sods Posted 24 October 2008 Posted 24 October 2008 I hate this shite talk, Barry dosen't have talent. Bla Bla Bla. Barry didn't play well last season, Bollocks. Hayles was one of very few who put themselves about, cared and wanted to win the game. Bollocks to the talent if you don't put the work in players like Barry Hayles should be playing. Fortunately Fryatt and Howard ent doing too bad this season. But last. Well.
clazkel Posted 24 October 2008 Posted 24 October 2008 I actually thought Hayles played quite well last season (one of our better players) and put in effort which other players lacked. I know many of you wont agree but i thought we looked quite dangerous when he played on the wing, and he defended well. I would like to see him start on the wing or come on up front. I think if he is given a chance then he will take it!
