yessae Posted 25 October 2008 Posted 25 October 2008 Good day Leicester City fans , An Indian Footy Journalist here and since this board does not allow me to start a new thread , I thought of using this thread to ask you about Mattock and Stearman. I'm currently doing a write up for Touchline India ( Country's only Football Mag ) on the best young XI outside the premiership and Mattock and Stearman figure in my back 4. I would like it if you guys could give your views on those 2 ( strengths , growth , promise etc ) .. Your help would be very useful to help us create more interest and spread awareness about the game out here. Cheers.
DB11 Posted 25 October 2008 Posted 25 October 2008 I don't really think Mattock and Stearman should figure in it but that is not what you are asking. You could try www.wikipedia.org
sdb Posted 25 October 2008 Posted 25 October 2008 I don't really think Mattock and Stearman should figure in it but that is not what you are asking. You could try www.wikipedia.org The well respected football bible!! Is that what you used to find out wherre Goa was?! I'd say Mattock's pretty good technically, likes to go forward, well built for his age. Slightly suspect positionally at times, but others here will have seen him more than me. I can't remember what was good about Stearman seeing as he was poor the last two seasons here imo. Wolves fans would give you a better answer i guess. Both good players but not 2 of the best outside the prem i'd say. Who else is in your team?
jonno24 Posted 25 October 2008 Posted 25 October 2008 Stearman - buggered off to wolves Mattock - Injured done
Edmund Posted 25 October 2008 Posted 25 October 2008 Don't watch leicester enough to give you an accurate answer on these two but Mark Beevers of Sheffield wednesday is a very promising cb. Looks like he will end up at Chelsea sooner or later.
Uncle Monty Posted 25 October 2008 Posted 25 October 2008 Yeah i like the players but cannot see them being anything more than average in years to come.

You could try www.wikipedia.org Then who do you think should figure in it ? The criteria are that they are less than 21 years old and are amongst the best for that position in the English Leagues outside the premiership. I know a lot about lower league myself ( I'm a Leeds fan btw ) , so I did a bit of research and came up with this XI Wayne Hennessey Eardley Stearman Beevers Mattock Scannell Llalana Delph Ledesma Moses Vokes Agree / Disagree ? and your views on Mattock and Stearman please ! Cheers Lads and good luck to you this season.

Would suggest sticking Surman in there (if he's still U21.) In terms of Mattock and Stearman, Mattock's obviously an England youngster and very talented...likes to get forward quite a lot. As does Stearman, both pretty confident, decent tacklers...decent distribution. I'd say Mattock's definately the better out the two, plus he's younger, although Stearman is doing pretty nicely at Wolves. Both very good players at championship level.

Delph is a future England star in my books , bound to play in the premiership soon without a doubt. For a 17 yr old , he has unbelievable skill on the ball , 2 footed , great engine and has bossed every game he has played so far. Teams have tried bullying him but the boy's built like a tough nut and thats exactly why he will do well in the premiership. He is different from the soft yet so called stars that develop in the Championship. You must see both his goals vs Walsall , sheer class. What would you define as Mattock and Stearman's best strength ? As in , could you give me little detail on that ? PS : Im giving your academy a lot of credit in our magazine because like Leeds , you have been producing some pretty good players for the lower league levels so far and kudos to that.

Mattock : An attacking full back with pace and a good cross. All-rounder really - quite a steady player. Stearman: Longish-throw, tall and can play at right-back aswell as Centre-back.
