Thracian Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 Is that a joke? He's been garbage for Leeds this season by all accounts. Mattock, Powell and Berner laugh in the faces of the Sheehan's of this world.I'm sure he'll now score an 80 yarder against us, but bring it slag. Sheehan's hardly played for Leeds. Since he got his last sending off - his third in a Leeds shirt - he's been largely sidelined and if Leeds think they can do without his free-kicks and corners I hope they don't change their mind on Boxing Day, especially considering the speed that they've been dropping points. I don't think either Powell or Mattock have done anything to replace Sheehan at left back. They are both totally different players but I definitely don't think Howard would have struggled so much to get on the scoresheet had Sheehan been our left back and I fail to see what either Powell or Mattock have done which everyone seems to think is so special. Having four fifths of the forum against me on this doesn't bother me either. There was barely one wanted to use Andy King last season and the same critics of all things ex-Academy have quickly lost faith in Gradel and Porter. Ric says Gradel has lost confidence and, while I find that surprising cos I've never known him lack confidence in the past, it is perhaps understandable when no-one shows any great faith in him and we park him in one set position to get double banked It's such a waste but there's nothing I can do about it. Perhaps we should let him go to somewhere like Crewe where I damned sure Dario Gradi would soon have him performing at his best. And the same goes for Porter.
Thracian Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 in answer to your question thrac the players that qualify as home grown in our current squad Marc Edworthy Kerrea Gilbert Stephen Clemence Matt Oakley Steve Howard DJ Campbell Lloyd Dyer Matty Fryatt Conrad Logan James Wesolowski Michael Morrison Nicky Adams Levi Porter Barry Hayles Harry Worley Ashley Chambers Max Gradel Joe Mattock Andy King Jack Hobbs David Martin Paul Dickov Luke O'Neill Chris Powell Craig King Alex Cisak Mark Davies the rule merely states that player must of been registered domestically for 3 years before the age of 21, not that they have to be under 21 You're quite right. I totally misinterpreted the precised version of the story I read when it was first announced. And what a big deal it is four "home-grown" out of 16. A quarter! What wonderful encouragement to domestic development schemes. I'd have been impressed if it was 12-4 in favour of home-grown rather than the other way around. In fact it's a pisstake really and I can't see the point of it.
Thracian Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 I saw Levi Porter in town earlier. FACT Was he heading for the station?
Big Ol' Bob Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 Nope, was more or less pace walking with some other bloke past all the market stall's selling german sausages etc near footlocker.
