He has been truely rubbish but booing him is not the answer, its not going to help him in the slightest :(

Posted

He has been awful - but to boo your own player when coming on, surely thats not helping anything or anyone?

It's a disgrace. Those people that boo our own players aren't real fans. It's those kind of people that have held Leicester City back over the years. They're a bunch of inbred ****wits. So please, frig off, you're not welcome.

agreed, i refused to applaud and cheer him but booing does no favours to anyone.

You say you refused to applaud or cheer him but at the minute i can see this being the biggest confidence boost that he needs. Remember Benjimin he was being booed when brought on but then the crowd began to get behind him when they realised he was giving 100% (even though he was shite) and this gave him no end of confidence. The same could and probably would happen with De Fries.

Indeed, De Vries is quite clearly a confidence player and being booed is the worse thing we can do. Hes probably never experienced booing to that capacity before either so it could knock him hard!

well said katy.... he also is 6ft 7 and looks odd against connelly who is 5ft 9.

He has to adapt to the crosses differently to other smaller players and may look odd to watch a little bit like Ian Ormondroyd.

He should be getting more headers thou..

Just because you're tall, it doesn't mean you're good in the air.

One of the best headers of the ball I've seen was Speedie, who was only 4ft 8!!

Yeah, but being tall gives you a natural advantage. However, he just needs to learn to time his jump, which you can be taught to do. So there is hope that he'll get better in the air...

I'm sorry but I cannot believe that CL would buy a striker of De Vries' size who is unable to head the ball. We have sat and watched a succession of forwards fail to head balls with any degree of accuracy. I think that we are all forgetting that our performances are generally mediocre, mainly due to poor confidence levels, and we end up watching numerous defenders and midfielders hit at best aimless balls forward but in reality very poor hoofs in the general direction of a forward who has to try and make the best of a bad job. If it isn't a combination of the above then CL must be a very bad judge of players or his glasses are so crap, that he should be going to Specsavers.

By the way to anyone who boo's a Leicester player who is actually trying - just feck off and go watch another mind numbing reality show, cos that's you level !

I didn't hear the boos yesterday, but if it's true then even I am disappointed, and I'm one of De Vrie's biggest critics.

Bit harsh isn't it.

I booed him, I have every right to. Not only is he an untalented player he is lazy and useless. I booed him because he doesn't try and I don't like that, and I booed the managers poor decision to bring him on.

Sorry but didn't realise that means I'm not a real fan despite the fact I spend every penny I have on the club and go to 99% of home and away games

I think the general concensus is that there are better ways of 'encouraging' a player than booing him Teeno, its not going to help him however bloody crap and frustrating it is.

Ok fair enough you pay out your money and you want to see players giving their all - De Vries needs confidence and you and the others who are booing him is not going to help the player or the team. What about Connelly at the start of the season, 2 goals in 20 games, were you booing him?

I like De Vries hes not great but he's not to bad and booing him will only worsen his average performances. If you want to support your TEAM then you've got to support the players that play for the TEAM. Footballs not made of individuals it's a TEAM game you can't blame one person having a bad game on not getting full points because it's a TEAM game and there's more than one person on a TEAM. If you boo your own players you're booing your TEAM. TEAM's need to work together and support their TEAMmates through thick and thin. So help your TEAM and support it don't critisize it.

Indeed! Theres no 'I' in TEAM! ;)

All well and good - but when one individual is letting the TEAM down, and not pulling his weight for the TEAM, we cannot sit/stand emotionless. I am not speaking about De Vries - it's just a general comment. A team which has one poor player effectively hinders the progress of the TEAM, and when that individual shows a lack of intelligence, effort, commitment, and drive, how is he helping the TEAM? ;)

I agree with you Bren. The sad thing is that the people that boo him now will be the first to congratulate him when his form improves. You have to take everything into consideration with Mark as he hasn't had an easy start here. He was thrust into the starting lineup sooner than he would've liked as we'd shipped out Scowy and Benji. He's had terrible luck with injuries all season and it doesn't take a genius to tell he's still not fully fit. He's only recently moved into a house down here which will bring him a bit of stability that you don't get living out of a suitcase and finally he's been playing in a team that hardly creates an abundance of chances for the strikers. Connolly's missed many good chances this season but I can't remember him being booed? MDV does put the effort in too but just because he isn't small and his legs don't go ten to the dozen people say he's lazy. Against Wigan he was tackled just inside the Wigan area but he tracked back to the halfway line and won the ball back. You wouldn't see a lazy player doing that.

He hasn't looked good so far but if anyone thinks this is as good as MDV's going to get then they're not thinking properly. I'm willing to have this thrown back in my face at a later date but MDV will be better next season

I'm of the opposite opinion. I believe that MDV will not improve upon what we have seen so far, I think it's more a lack of ability than lack of motivation or fitness. I don't think we're going to see a significant improvement next season. However, just like you, I'm willing to have these comments thrown back in my face if he proves me wrong.

I booed De Vries, why should I pay my money to see that willy puller play? He's worse then Blake.

96506[/snapback]

What are you basing that on? You have probably seen Blake play once or twice in a Leicester shirt? What about Connolly when he wasnt scoring at the start of the season were you booing him? What about Williams when he goes missing throughout various stages of the match do you boo him?
