2008.

2008 was a total rollercoaster ride of emotion.

Even pre relegation I drifted from heady optimism to absolute pessimism on almost a weekly basis.

After hitting that low though its been a non stop climb and as a Leicester City fan I end the year on an absolute high - couldn't be happier with our performance in this league so far.

Disastrous (in footballing terms) first five months of it, absolutely horrible, football was dire (apart from a couple of matches) and relegation was the worst feeling I've ever felt as a fan of this club.

Since June, it's been very enjoyable, and the pride is back. We have a manager who is top class as a person and impressing as a coach, players who are actually fighting for the club and showing pride in the shirt and the fans, on the whole, are believing in the club again.

2008 has been a very mixed year, but we go into 2009 feeling much more positive and without trepidation.

Not too sure about Relegation being a blessing in disguise. I can remember Stoke Away on Sunday May 4th 2008 better than any other Leicester game I've been to. 5 minutes before the final whistle went I can remember all the Stoke fans getting ready to run on the pitch. Heartbraking. When we was playing Premiership Football and you used to play the likes of Middlesborough Away you use to think oh great, but who would of thought we would be playing teams like Yeovil and Oldham a few seasons later?

I enjoyed the first half of the season grinding out results but on the other hand getting hammered, but absolutely loving it. Sheffield United away being the best away game I've been to. The whole day was quality, and Holloway despite loving the fans actually really couldn't give a fook after being 3 down in the first 20 minutes or so.

Another two games I've picked out are Cheltenham and Leyton Orient, mainly because the people who off here I went with and just the quality of Football. Going 1-1 at Leyton Orient then in the dying minutes seeing Fryatt and Andy King score was electric and Leicester already playing like Champions so early in the season at Whaddon Road. I've not been as much this season despite having a season ticket due to other commitments but It's been tip top so far for Leicester and mostly all the supporters despite the fickle minority and winning the title againt Leeds at the Walkers would cap this season of and 2008's 2nd half performances hard work.

We're Leicester.

We're Leicester.

Obviously it's to early to say it is a blessing but in terms of what has happened so far everythings happened for the best:

(1) We could still have holloway in charge if we stayed up

(2) Brought Leicester fans down to earth as last season we were as deluded as Leeds fans thinking that we deserved to be in the premiership

(3) Got rid of a few fan favourites (stearman, hume, mcauley) and brought in some fresh talent, change is always good.

(4) Bringing the best out of players who probably wouldn't have got a second chance : Fryatt, Henderson, Howard etc

(5) Gives us a chance to rebuild from scratch, bringing youth player(s) through the ranks (king)

(6) And finally has brought a sense of positive energy around the club but this is down to the great start to the season and it could be very different if we were say in leeds position now i.e, pearson out of work.

“It’s a funny old game!”
