Davies Impresses Fans As Well As Pundits

Recommended Posts

Yeovil Town 0-2 Leicester City

19 January 2009

Mark Davies was presented with the man of the match award by the team on Sky but won the all more important and prestigious player-ratings.com man of the match award after a classy midfield performance at Huish Park on Monday night. Steve Howard's tireless performance saw him finish just behind Davies in second with long term absentee Tunchev's replacement Michael Morrison filling his boots by making the top three. Meanwhile, Matt Oakley and Lloyd Dyer jointly took bottom spot.

It was the first televised game of the season for City and supporters who didn't get to the game were given a chance to vote. The ratings generally followed the same order with a few exceptions whereby Jack Hobbs was marked far more generously by those watching on Sky and would have leapfrogged David Martin into fifth had these ratings decided the order.

Also every City player's rating was more generous on the whole by those who watched on TV with the sole exception of Steve Howard who won higher scores from the travelling Blue Army.

Maybe he'd be a bit less of a miserable bastard if he tried wearing trousers on a cold night.

Maybe she ought to find another hobby because she's been piss miserable about our performances all season.

What is brilliant about this is that it clearly demonstrates the difference between watching something on TV and being at the game.

I didn't think the differences were that great, the Sky viewer seems to be more generous but the order is pretty much the same and this with there being only 19 match votes.

It would be hard to determine which of the two sets was the most accurate, the Sky viewer getting a much closer view of the action and having the benefit of replays although as you said in another post we get to follow the ball and do not see the off ball activity.

The match view is pretty narrow being generally from one point in the ground and distracted by flag waving attention seeking drunken nutters :P

PS - thanks again Sheff

Is that Boc then in SK2? Got a beard & ALWAYS wearing shorts?

Some fella runs up the steps past me every week in shorts, doesn't matter what the weather is doing!

A possible reason for the more generous TV ratings could be that subconciously the people that travelled 500 miles to Yeovil to stand in a freezing unroofed stand as apposed to sitting in a warm chair/pub in their house or near their house are going to be a bit harder to please? Obviously many other factors too no doubt, like off the ball movement and that, which you don't really see on tv.
