Tevez Posted 7 February 2009 Posted 7 February 2009 I know they've just featured on MOTD but being FA Cup Winners () and now coming to this? Distin was shite from the highlights and Campbell isn't much decent either. Feel sorry for Adams, but I don't think that young managers should be thrown in the Premiership and should work their way up. Bad times.

lildave3 Posted 7 February 2009 Posted 7 February 2009 Shaun's had a mare. I have a feeling it's some sort of gag.
Koke Posted 7 February 2009 Posted 7 February 2009 Punching well above their weight. It's about ****ing time they go down to the fizzy pop league where they belong.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 Punching well above their weight. It's about ****ing time they go down to the fizzy pop league where they belong. I'd have to agree. And it should also be compulsory for Premier League grounds to have undersoil heating. Some of these teams are a joke.
Ultra Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 Adams to be sacked on Monday. No great surprise. Relegation could spell financial meltdown for Pompey.
Guest Bilo Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 Adams to be sacked on Monday. No great surprise. Relegation could spell financial meltdown for Pompey. I agree. A lot of players on a lot of money there and Fratton Park will never be able to provide the gate receipts to maintain that. It's a sad situation, but I can see Portsmouth going down and finding themselves in administration. Avram Grant might just be able to turn things around there if he fancies the challenge, but I'm not sure he will to be honest.
Number 6 Posted 9 February 2009 Posted 9 February 2009 Adams doesn't seem to have what it takes as a manager. If they bring in a decent manager they should stay up, there are a fair few average sides in the Prem.
Alexikokopops Posted 9 February 2009 Posted 9 February 2009 Punching well above their weight. It's about ****ing time they go down to the fizzy pop league where they belong. Exactly. Jokers.
dandannieldanok Posted 9 February 2009 Posted 9 February 2009 Campbell and Distin have simply fallen to pieces ever since Redknapp left, shameful really on their part. Adams may have done things differently and implemented his own ideas, but to me it seems very much as though the players have really let him down.
Tilley Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Pompey will have to sell sell sell if they do take the drop. Depending on who they get in, they might just have enough time to turn things round.
dandannieldanok Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Pompey will have to sell sell sell if they do take the drop.Depending on who they get in, they might just have enough time to turn things round. I think they've had it if they go down and will follow the likes of Coventry, Derby, Southampton into the lower reaches of the championship, and potentially follows the likes of Leicester, Leeds and Forest down another level too in years to come. The squad isn't large in quantity but their wage bill is absolutely huge and the club is being run in a financially unsustainable way. Harry Redknapp may have won the FA cup and brought in players such as Defoe and Diarra that have created tidy profits, but he didn't build a stable foundation and got out at just the right time. The average age of the playing squad is likely to be pretty high with numerous over-30s so a squad overhaul would be needed.
Tevez Posted 10 February 2009 Author Posted 10 February 2009 Even if they go down, they get alot of Wonga from Parachute Payments and Much more money than 3/4 of the teams in the Champ.

Can't imagine much, if any, of the cash would be set aside for transfers. Gaydamak will be looking to try and recoup his losses as it doesn't look likely that he'll find a buyer soon. I think parachute payments are given more significance than actually they have in reality, many clubs have struggled to bounce back from relegation in the last 10 years.
Sparky Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Mandy is on ssn backing grant for manager. Made me laugh , lets ask Mandy for his opinion because his record of picking managers is brilliant !!!
Ultra Posted 11 February 2009 Posted 11 February 2009 Pompey seek Sven Would be a brave move if it comes off, especially as he can't bring players in..
