Arthur Rowley Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 The league one cup we won, do we get to keep it in the cabinet for good. Or do we have our clubs name engraved on it, and hand it back to the FA to give to next years winners? A bit of a no brainer I know, but I would still like to know. Cheers A.R.
DB11 Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 I guess we keep it for a year and then the club will get a replica made to put in the trophy cabient
flanimal Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Yeah, replica. Just make an exact copy, and whack it in the trophy cabinet. I know Brazil got to keep the World Cup because they won it three times, but don't think that happens with L1... and even if it did it'd mean we'd have to win that division 3 times... and I don't want City to messing around in League 1 again!

Bert Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 I thought they got to keep it because FIFA made a new trophy. Correct.
Ultra Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 No, FIFA made a new trophy because Brazil won it three times.
Hitesh Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 No, FIFA made a new trophy because Brazil won it three times. Yup, WHS. Wiki link here too - worth a read if anyones bored!
AyewJoking Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Am I right in thinking Liverpool kept the European cup after winning it five times?
Hitesh Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Am I right in thinking Liverpool kept the European cup after winning it five times? Yeah they did, UEFA are on their 6th trophy now... The trophy that will be awarded at the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final is the sixth, and has been in use since 2006, after Liverpool. won their fifth European Cup in 2005.[6]
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Yup, WHS. Wiki link here too - worth a read if anyones bored! It is indeed, as now I've learned why Nike is named Nike - it's not just a weird name! (Nike is the Greek Goddess of victory and is depicted on the Jules Rimet trophy. I assume the famous tick or 'swoosh' was added in as she was deemed an 'alright bird?')
Hitesh Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Are they different designs or just identical copies? Identical copies I beleive - and I'm assuming your talking about the CL?!
Guest Posted 15 May 2009 Posted 15 May 2009 Right, we keep the trophy until next season when another team wins it, then apparently we get a replica, which is to scale, to keep.
