flanimal Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 If Cox is signed, and he costs £2m or something like that, does this mean Fryatt is dropped? I can't imagine that they'd fork up £2m for a striker just to sit on the bench. Same with Ritchie Wellens, if they are paying £1m or more, he can't be a bench sitter, so that would surely mean Oakley or King is dropped/ What do you think?

lookwhaticando Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 I think we should wait until we have actually signed someone. No chance. Wild speculation is the norm at this time of year. Besides, knowitall has spoken. It's not happening, it's happened.

Apart from the fact that it is all speculation right now, it might be that Pearson intends to involve an entire squad of players next season. With emphasis on the word "involve".
flanimal Posted 14 May 2009 Author Posted 14 May 2009 I think we should wait until we have actually signed someone. Hence the words "If Cox is signed". Fryatt signed an improved contract not long ago, one of them has to be dropped, unless Howard is. Or unless they play a 4-3-3 with all three strikers - which would make our midfield really weak.

I'm sure NP knows what he is doing and with a 46 + game season competition would be ideal and they are both young so I can't see us selling either of them. We are in a win win situation here and doesn't mean that because we sign a player means that one has to go. We are trying to build a strong squad and I'd love to see a strong strike force as we will need good rotation and competition at the same time!

The only back up strikers we had last season were Dickov and Hayles, and that will not be good enough in the Championship
Finnegan Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Jesus Christ, flanimal, would you calm down? There's already six million threads about Cox and he's still an unconfirmed signing. I'd rather not have a long, boring summer of deleting and merging your posts. We don't want to discourage anyone from posting when they've got something genuine to contribute but let's not go overboard ey?
