henry's horn Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 I have read on one particular website that our goalie Ian Walker might be on his way to Birmingham. It'll be a shame to let him go if he does.
lcfc true blue josh 18 Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 i read it aswell but i think that it will be farewell to walker who has been great for us
henry's horn Posted 4 May 2005 Author Posted 4 May 2005 But the question is who'll replace him? Who'll replace on of our greatsest keepers?
jordo11 Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 i would like to thank walker if he does go well done ian he has been good for us
Ricey Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 I'm not quite sure whether I want Walker to stay or go, he is a very good keeper but I think we could possibly sign a better one (Taylor?).
Leicesterboi Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 He is quality but for the long run i think we could do with getting in a younger keeper, however walker would be great for one more season to see him help along the new younger keepers at the club. he was immense against 'dirty leeds' so he could be vital for our promtion push next term. i would like to see a golakeeper from hearts come in called Craig Gordan. he is young and of a high quality. however i am rather cautious of levein bringing in too many scotthish players as i have already said on the topic "Scottish Players- too much is bad news" if you'd like to have a read.
Scow Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 But the question is who'll replace him? Who'll replace on of our greatsest keepers? 102956 Hilarious stuff. I'm not sure Birmingham would interest Walker, unless decent wages were offered - However, that would be unlikely as he would be second choice.
Soho_Fox Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 Funny - my main memory of Walker is him slinging the ball into the net at home to Bolton last season. The latest in a string of howlers I seem to remember. It's wierd how people's memories differ. He's a gonner to a Premiership club on 10 grand a week as a number 2 keeper I reckon. No way can we compete with that. Nor should we try.

Soho_Fox Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 Didn't know you had to be on the happy pills to register on here. I'll go where I want thanks. Not up for a healthy debate? Walker was pants at Spurs and I've not met a single Spurs fan who regrets his going. Walker helped to put us down last year when we could so easily have stayed up. He's only perking up now with his form to put himself in the shop window. Great penalty save though and a decent save against Derby. But 2 swallows don't make a spring let alone a summer.
step Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 I agree soho, he dont fill me with confidence, and never has, he makes the odd spectacular save, but he aint no where near as good as Flowers was and we need another flowers.
Soho_Fox Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 Difference is Flowers dominated the penalty area like the great goalkeepers of the past - Shilton, Banks and Clemence. Walker hardly ever comes off his line. For corners he's normally rooted to the goal line. Strange because when he does come for crosses Walker's handling is normally quite good. It's a mental thing. Walker prefers to stay on his line. That's why he's only an avrerage keeper. Edited for spelling after a drink.
Louise Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 We're not a good enough team to get a Flowers (at his peak). Walker is a good 'keeper, especially for this division. His kicking is good, he can pull off some fantasic saves and while he might not come out for enough crosses in my opinion he is quite a brave 'keeper, the amount of times he's dived at a players feet and got a boot in the face for his trouble I can't count. I would be sad to see him leave, he cares about the club (as much as any player does these days) and at the moment the only replacement that has been mentioned is Douglas.

That obviously being the most recent example..
step Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 The problem is that there is just not any quality goalies about, England used to produce the best goalies in the world Flowers, Shilton, Banks and Clemence are the main ones that spring to mind. Now we have to rely on James, its sad
Leicester_Mad Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 Stuart Taylor....... 102965 you're in dreamland mate if we cant afford walker we wont attract someone even on Highbury reserves wages
Leicester_Mad Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 No doubt Levein will release him now. Disaster. 103596 i think it will be a big mistake if we dont at least offer him a contract. Without a good keeper we have no chance of promotion

Without a good keeper we have no chance of promotion 103604 i'm sure cl has got a replacement in mind who is probably younger and on less wages we'll just have to see who that is i guess.
