Leicester_Mad Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 No doubt Levein will release him now. Disaster. 103596 i think it will be a big mistake if we dont at least offer him a contract. Without a good keeper we have no chance of promotion 103604 i'm sure cl has got a replacement in mind who is probably younger and on less wages we'll just have to see who that is i guess. 103639 Or Douglas. 103643 he isnt denying that rumour so i think he will be number 1 here

true blue jamie Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 it wud be sad 2 see walker go hes been great.the ideal replacement wud be taylorf hes quality just wat we need.
Knighton Matt Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 i'm not too sad. a good servant over the years but far too expensive and like with tim flowers i think he'll never be totally injury free again and his best days are behind him. will be interesting to see who he is replaced by? i've never seen the guy play but why does everyone hate rab douglas so much? is he really that bad he was celtic's first choice keeper for a while?

No thank you... And I doubt we will get a keeper with the same or higher ability as Walker I really feel he was important, and I would rather have us pay some high wages and have a good keeper than having to find a new one...
TrickyTrev Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 I can't really jufge Rab Douglas and I think some people are criticisin him for one bad performance that we all saw (the UEFA cup final.) I am sure Levein knows more about the player and MON/God obviously rated him for a while!
Louise Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Well, I'm looking forward to seeing the replacement keeper who has the potential to play in the Premiership, and that isn't some out-of-favour League One goalie or SPL reject. <_< *bitter* <_<

I rate David Marshall much higher than Doublas, and it seems MON does too..

From abroad I would know one keeper on a free who is capable of filling Walkers shoes. Peter Skov-Jensen at Bochum is playing second fiddle there. He hasn't got a start yet, and at 33 he will move on this summer. He's Denmarks number two and had a stunner in the game against Turkey at the end of last year. I've seen him many times for FC Midtjylland and he's a very very steady keeper who makes very few mistakes. He's desperate for some foreign first team football after having been in Denmark all his career up until last christmas. We could easily snap him up on a free, but chances are that Levein won't even be aware of his availabilty...

Jon Sanders? The Trust? Anyone else?.. I don't know
shen Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Wish we still had Danny Coyne! 104025 Yeah he was solid. I was disappointed when he was allowed to leave last summer.. for a measly £50k
TornadoShaunUK Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Just noticed the list of released players and saw Walks name.. I personally am gutted, because I can see us bringing in some old git of a lesser caliber than Walks.. Now I am praying that Stuart Taylor will sign for us!!! In my eyes, that would be a respectable replacement for a top goaly that has also been a loyal servant to our club
City Fan Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Walker has played his last game for the club! Thanks for everything Ian.............
