stez Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 I couldn't disagree with you more. If anything radio is only growing stronger, people love tuning in when going on holiday, returning from work, going to work and of course school hours too.Radio allows your news, music, sports, entertainment and voice to be in one place with you simply having to listen in. i hear something, and i want to find out there and then, not when a dj (or producer) see's fit for me to find out more. only zane lowe (or jay) is worth listening to for new music any other radio show is the same old shit over and over again.
Thracian Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Only occasionally listen to radio usually early morning before the adverts and/orthe banal tripe from the presenters begins. After Radio Caroline and friends, radio has never been the same. As others have pointed out, in many ways it is now outmoded.
Webbo Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Working on my own the radio (Radio 2) is important to me. I take my tea break while the pop quiz is on. I know when Jeremy Vine starts it's time for my dinner and when the non-stop oldies start on the Steve Wright show it's afternoon tea time. It tells me the time. Terry Wogan/Ken Bruce make me laugh. The Jeremy Vine show gives me someone to shout at when some of the callers say something that annoys me. I couldn't get any of that listening to an mp3 player.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 I don't listen to local radio as I think it's shite. I used to quite like that biker bloke Chas' show on Radio Leicester years ago. It was about the only show on the radio that would play Morrissey at the time. 6 Music is ace, but that's mainly because they play just the sort of music I like, and it remains my favourite way of finding out about new music. Plus it has Adam and Joe. Can't bloody stand George Lamb though
The Stig Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Leicester Sound is local radio at its worst. Talentless presenters (most of them) and an awful playlist. Takeover Radio is kids radio. A great idea to find new young talent and gives wannabe DJ's some valuable experience. Would I listen to it? Never in a million years. BBC Radio Leicester wins hands down.

MC Prussian Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 A general comment. Radio's gotten utterly disappointing in the past 10+ years. No more real DJs, no personal choices, caller suggestions limited to a minimum. All the regular (commercial) stations play is the same artificial, studio-enhanced pop tripe, sponsored by the music production companies. Yes, produced, no longer true man-made music! I stick to my own music collection and a few internet radios. That's it.
Kee Posted 31 May 2009 Author Posted 31 May 2009 I do understand why some of you may see the radio as pointless nowadays, but in all fairness, radio is still a great source of entertainment, especially when your in the car or working, at the end of the day, you could check the computer etc... but who wants to be in front of a screen all day?
Tevez Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 I'm suprised Takeover Radio is still going with goobers like you on there Kenan Waters. Oh I know who you are. And I know what you did last summer and the summer before that.
