Bert Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 £1m fee agreed for Andrew Surman and Kevin Nolan is rumoured to be signing soon. Both bargains. Doyle is a good signing. Bit over-priced I think. Sadly, I can only see them spending one season in the prem with Wolves.
Ultra Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 There will be a few poor teams in the Premier League next season. I wouldn't be surprised to see Wolves stay up.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 An absurd fee for a bog standard Championship player. He is not particuarly quick or powerful. And he certainly isn't blessed with much technical ability. His Premiership strike rate is a modest 19/70 (1 in 3.68) over two seasons. I could name ten strikers from south eastern Europe of superior quality who could have been purchased for less. Another clueless thick as pigshit Brit coach pissing Sky's millions up a wall. I'd say good business Reading if there wasn't a whiff of the 'Arrys' coming from this. Manufacturer's warning: will not ameliorate transfer odour so observe Steven's protocol (kick into long grass)

How many players scored more than 10 league goals in the prem last season? Doyle was also voted Rep of Ireland player of the year last season ahead players such as Richard Dunne, Robbie Keane and Shay Given.
Father Ted Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 I've always rated Kevin Doyle but I wouldn't say that he is worth that much!
maddog Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 £6.5m Thats 5 times what we paid for Howard, and Dj. Fooking shocking price. Would love it if he gets injured for the whole season now, and Wolves come crashing down, with us taking their place in the PL.

McCarthy has paid well over the odds for an extremely average player largely because of their combined connections with the Irish FA. He knows also that if Doyle fails to deliver there will be less comeback than if he had bought a 'dud' foreigner at half the price. The fact that this kind of irrational thinking still pervades the world's most cosmopolitan league is indicative of the serious problems that are preventng your national side from enjoying any success.
kidder_wolf Posted 2 July 2009 Author Posted 2 July 2009 Personally i would rather see us pay the extra on a player who has a good record over 2 seasons in the prem and a very good championship record in his 2 season in that league. You always pay over the odds for players in his country if the selling club dont want to sell. Ebanks blake release fee was £1.5m yet Doyles was £6.5m so we have paid £8m for the best to players outside the premier league. Im more than happy with that when you compare them to Diomansy Kamara (£6m) Henri Camara (£4.5) Dean Ashton (£7) Lee Hughes (£5m) Akinbiyi (£5m) who all moved for those fees a few years ago ans there is more money in the premier league now. You have been linked with Keogh he is worth £1.5m yes but if you wanted to tempt us into seeing you would have to pay at least £2.5m which would seem alot going by this past record. Radovan what are you veiws on Nenad Millijas who we have signed for £2.6m? We have also bid £1.5m for Jerko Leko from Monaco
kidder_wolf Posted 2 July 2009 Author Posted 2 July 2009 Greg Halford signing for £2m. Thats the long throws sorted then
Babylon Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Greg Halford signing for £2m. Thats the long throws sorted then Who?
kidder_wolf Posted 2 July 2009 Author Posted 2 July 2009 Who? Starred for sheff Utd last season and scored the goal that took them to the play off final. He was on loan from Sunderland.
kidder_wolf Posted 2 July 2009 Author Posted 2 July 2009 Nenad Millijas has just completed his move to Wolves after been granted a work permit dispite him not featuring in enough games for serbia and currently serving a suspended 1 year prison sentance. So once the Halford deal is completed that will be £13m spent in the last 3/4 days
Milky Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Halford was woeful in the prem for Sunderland. You better hope he's developed since then.

Fat Sam of the Ravers must read my screed - NB how I was bang on with my valuation (a bit more respect from you wankers is due, but of course I won't get it, which is perhaps just as well, as it would inhibit my acerbic posting ). Anyway here's to Kalinic ripping open the squillionaires defence on day one of the Premier League season. And even though he does represent that synthetic state next door (where we used to keep our compost, manure & industrial waste) here's to his Wembley hat trick on September 8th
