Monk Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Actually, on a serious note I know nothing about it but I am interested. Is it difficult to pick up James?
James. Posted 16 July 2009 Author Posted 16 July 2009 Are you still in London? My friend runs a class in Shoreditch. Tuesday 6:45 - 7:45. £8. You should come. It's tough going but you feel fucking good after it and I have already felt a difference in terms of core strength and flexibility. Only been to 5 sessions.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Done a few sessions of yogalaties combination of yoga and pilates, really good but tiring and next day you can barely walk

Do you go to this thing? Where in Shoreditch and what days?
James. Posted 16 July 2009 Author Posted 16 July 2009 Yeah and I'm still on Bishopsgate. Do you go to this thing? Where in Shoreditch and what days? Yeah I go. It's Tuesday evenings. Easy Studio, 60-64 Kingsland Road, E2 8AG. She used to do one in Whitechapel on a Monday as well but it ended up only me wanting to go so I moved to the Tuesday one. She's very good, it's a great class, few people I know go and they all love it as well. I'll PM you the Facebook group.

I'm pretty prone to injuries, especially my back and shoulders. Would this help or hinder?
James. Posted 16 July 2009 Author Posted 16 July 2009 I'm very interested in it but never been. I'm pretty prone to injuries, especially my back and shoulders. Would this help or hinder? I think it would help. I'm not an expert but it strengthens your core muscles and pays particular attention to your back. To be honest if your prone to injuries then it's probably exactly the sort of thing you should be doing.

I have been to a place in Leicester called Bikram Yoga. Basically Yoga, in a Sauna. Felt good afterwards.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Just don't fart when you bend down to touch your toes some chick had a little squaka pop out once never seen anybody go so red in there life

Guest Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 I have been to a place in Leicester called Bikram Yoga. Basically Yoga, in a Sauna. Felt good afterwards. A mate of ours was talking about this place, but don't know if he went or not. It's supposed to be quite popular. It's ages since I did yoga; I enjoy the exercises, but hate all the breathing stuff that they started to make us do, like having to pinch your nose for a minute, then breathe out through alternate nostrils.

Can you not just take part in that bit? I've got better things to do with my time than fanny around with breathing techniques
Guest Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Can you not just take part in that bit? I've got better things to do with my time than fanny around with breathing techniques Yeah, I had to sit and 'meditate' instead. Just get on with the sun salutation etc, and leave the hippy shit out of it, I say.
Tabou Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Sounds like a sexual yoga experiance It certainly was if you count knocking one out in the changing room afterwards...
James. Posted 16 July 2009 Author Posted 16 July 2009 Yeah, I had to sit and 'meditate' instead. Just get on with the sun salutation etc, and leave the hippy shit out of it, I say. Haha. I actually quite enjoy the hippy shit. Bit of meditation at the start and end combined with breathing exercises definitely adds to the experience. And it's all good for you...

BoneDog Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 My Mum who's 56 and my 6 year old niece do yoga and tai-chi and they can do things I never thought possible! My 6 year old niece will be kickin me ass soon. They also do something called baghua or something like that which is some far fetched Bruce Lee shat. I never thought my Mum could hurt me but she did a move on me the other day and nearly bost me solar plexis
Lillehamring Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Done a few sessions of yogalaties combination of yoga and pilates, really good but tiring and next day you can barely walk i believe that's actually a combination of yoga, lamb and smarties.... i've been meaning to do yoga for years, i have no excuse now with my new work plan, might actually get some value out of the gym membership.
Jordan Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Thinking about joining a local gym and also signing up for yoga classes in September, partly because I really need to increase flexibility and partly because of the very high female-to-male ratio in their classes.

My first yoga was a bloke, and he always made us spend a disproportionate amount of time in this pose.
