Nod.E Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I know Fryatt is currently injured, but it seems NP wants to mould Dany into a more straight forward striking role. I'm just wondering, could he be the extra striker we've been crying out for? He's strong, quick, and can use both feet equally. Apparently his finish isn't bad either. I could see this working, personally.
Edmund Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I wouldn't get to carried away yet it's still early days. Im guessing his main strength is as an attacking midfielder/winger as it seems he enjoys running at the opposition. More of a utility striker/forward.

You never know, though. Today might not be a fluke? No reason why he shouldn't do a good job. If he's got a good finish, he's strong, and he's quick, then he could do a decent job. Not saying we're now sorted, but maybe we're not as desperate as what we first thought.

flanimal Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Over time, he could be. Not convinced with his finishing at the moment.
lildave3 Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I'd prefer him to be used as a striker tbh, sounds like my kind of guy.
jonw88 Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I'd prefer him to be used as a striker tbh, sounds like my kind of guy. Maybe we could play 4-3-3 with N'Guessan up top as a winger? but then fryatt would be out of position so it may not work... will be interesting to see if we bring in someone else.

Ozwin Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Sack Fryatt off and Play Lloyd the other side This guy is a Lakers fan, he doesn't know what he's talking about.
dandannieldanok Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Smacks of desperation, trying to fit players into slightly different roles from their norm shouldn't be happening early in the season never mind before the season has even started. Major oversight from Pearson on the striker front.
Ozwin Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Apparently he's already said he's after more striking options, I don't know what everyone is worried about. There's still 2 weeks to go, if worst comes to the worst he'll just overspend on someone I presume.

You've answered your own question, the longer it goes on the bigger chance of a panic buy and an overspend.

Ozwin Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Haha, sorry, I've just been playing 2k9 all afternoon online and some nob kept Kobe whoring me. He got 48 points, so I officially hate the Lakers even more than I already did now.

Major oversight from Pearson on the striker front. Nonsense. It would only be an oversight if he thought we didnt need any new strikers and wasn't looking. But he is. The reason we haven't signed anyone YET is because the right player at the right price hasnt come along. I'm sure he's working to address the situation and we have a new striker in place before Aug 8th. Chill.
flanimal Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 LA Lakers? You're insane if you think we give a shit!

With Fryatt injured we are completely depleted up top, you'd regret saying this ^ if Paul Dickov started against Swansea, which is a real possibility.
flanimal Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Kermorgant will sign before the transfer window. I'm very confident. Frenchman Kermo and Frenchman N'Guessan upfront, no problems with communication!
Tilley Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 LA Lakers? You're insane if you think we give a shit! Kermorgant will sign before the transfer window. I'm very confident.Frenchman Kermo and Frenchman N'Guessan upfront, no problems with communication! You talk so much crap.

With Fryatt injured we are completely depleted up top, you'd regret saying this ^ if Paul Dickov started against Swansea, which is a real possibility. Regret saying what? I never said we didnt need another striker and God help us if Dickov did start against Swansea! I realise players need time to integrate but its equally important that the right player is signed, panic buying is not the way forward. We went for Cox and that didnt work out, but i'm sure Nige and his staff are workng overtime to bring someone in asap.
flanimal Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I'm not concerned about the striker situation, someone is bound to be bought one way or another. Busiest days of any transfer window are the last few, I'm sure Mandaric has a couple of million to spend. Even if they're overpriced, it's not my money so why should I care? The most they're going to spend is £2m - if that.
Bakey Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Kermorgant will sign before the transfer window. I'm very confident.Frenchman Kermo and Frenchman N'Guessan upfront, no problems with communication! Communication with the rest of the team??
flanimal Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I meant if they're talking in French they might communicate better. I know N'Guessan can speak English, but I don't think he's totally fluent, more conversational from what I've heard. I could be wrong, I was only making a daft comment.
fox123 Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Thierry Henry started as a left winger, Paul Dickov started out as a right winger...No reason why N'guessan can't be converted if he has the ability. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he's a Henry, just using those as examples.
