Fox You Forest Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 £40 a week and one day a week at college as a YTS painter and decorator.
lou Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 I'm sorry that just made me laugh. Why, I dont get why its funny?
C-man Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Well I was a ball boy for Leicester Tigers for two years when I was younger - no pay but it was essentially a free season ticket and I got to kick a ball about the pitch at half time and after the match... also did a few games at the Walkers for them. I suppose that doesn't really count though. I had a Saturday morning and Summer pick/packing job in Exhall (near Coventry) which I started in September 2006. I worked in that warehouse until last April - it got slowly worse as the manager got stricter and by the time I was offered a job in Credit Control I was ready to quit. I'm back in Credit Control there now after my first year at Uni to address the low funds problem!
Webbo Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 £40 a week and one day a week at college as a YTS painter and decorator. Good lad. Why, I dont get why its funny? Sorry. I know a few roofers and they're not really the suit and tie type.
lou Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Good lad. Sorry. I know a few roofers and they're not really the suit and tie type. Obviously he doesnt wear a suit and tie now!! He wore it for the interview and was told that was the main reason he got the job.
Katy Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 My first job was at Grimsby Fisheries, I was 15 and they made me work for twelve hours with one break, which I think was and possibly still is illegal...
Bert Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 My first job was at Grimsby Fisheries, I was 15 and they made me work for twelve hours with one break, which I think was and possibly still is illegal... Certainly is illegal now.

Bloody damn fine chippy though! My understanding is that you have to have a 20 minute break every 6 hours but I would imagine at 15 its different.
Katy Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Certainly is illegal now. Haha, I meant to put that the other way round. They were absolute bastards.
MikeyT Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 My first job was a driver for my dad when i was 17. He was a consultant but didn't have a driving licence so i used to drive him around The Midlands for his work. Thrilling eh?
