Louise Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Scowcroft Released By FoxesStriker James Scowcroft has today (Monday) been released by Leicester City. Manager Craig Levein has opted not to renew the 29-year-old's contract and therefore he is free to look for another club. Scowcroft joined the Foxes for an undisclosed fee from Ipswich Town in July 2001 and went on to make 147 appearances and score 28 goals. The former England Under-21 international teamed up with the Tractor Boys on loan back in February this year and has helped them secure a Championship Play-Off berth. Levein said: "On behalf of everyone connected with Leicester City Football Club I would like to thank James for his loyal service to the club over the last four years. "He is a model professional, has contributed greatly to this club and we wish him every success for the future." Nikos Dabizas, Scot Gemmill, Nathan Blake, Lilian Nalis, Keith Gillespie and Ian Walker were also released by Leicester City last week but Dion Dublin and Stephen Dawson were offered new deals. Levein is still yet to speak to goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld and winger Jason Wilcox, who are also out of contract. http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~663312,00.html
Louise Posted 9 May 2005 Author Posted 9 May 2005 Good News! How much wage per week was he on? 105427 Rumours were about 17k p/w.
Mark Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Thank **** for that! I would say the pain of watching that is finally over.. but De Vries is somehow worse
Anish Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 the mole is dead long live the mole... 105437 The mole is dead long live the donkey! Thank **** for that - I had a terrifying inkling that he might be kept on. And as for helping Ipswich "secure a place in the playoffs", what a load of bollocks. Helped them slide into the playoffs after looking destined for automatic promotion more like
Durnerz Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Lets not forget his superb performances towards the end of the 01/02 Premiership campaign and being an instrumental part of the 02/03 promotion campaign, how people forget eh..... Thanks for everything Scowy!
Durnerz Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 "Stewart is not a winger, more of a wing pack, pace to get up and down. Quality on the ball can be good, sometimes erratic." 105533 Wrong thread

That bit in bold made me laugh
Leicester_Mad Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 how people forget his great performances that helped to get us up Id rather have JS than MDV playing upfront for my leicester side Good Luck James

He was absolutely terrific that day and battered Millwall defenders will guile, power and skill. 2 goals to boot IIRC. The following week he was back out wide <_< It's a shame his performance levels dropped so drastically and he'll be remembered in that manner.
step Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Ipswitch dont want he either, infact they aint even keeping him for the playoffs
Knighton Matt Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Ipswitch dont want he either, infact they aint even keeping him for the playoffs 105693 odds on him joining cov and linking up with micky once again???
The Man With The Golden Grahams Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 What has everyone got against Scowcroft? People have very short memories. He's been excellent for us in the past. I remember our promotion season of 2003 when he had the habit of ghosting in at the back post to head home. He was also good on the ball for such a big lad. All the best Scowwy.
Guest Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 He wasn't the best player to ever pull on a City shirt. He scored a few goals, had the odd decent game, I won't be missing him.
Scow Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Good luck to him. Played out of position for most of his time here, which I believe resulted in him being out of touch when played upfront again...

Chimp Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Good luck to the bloke I say. He was a crucial part of MA's promotion winning team and played some blinding games. Just a pity that toward the end of his career at City his commitment seemed to wane. Hope he finds a club and manager that can help him regain his previous form.

Louise Posted 9 May 2005 Author Posted 9 May 2005 Don't be silly, he's obviously going to end up at Cov.

city are bigger than the forest Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 Scowy was never the best of goalscorers but he always seemed to come up with a goal just when we needed one. But at least we don't have to pay him his wages anymore
