Unit Posted 16 September 2009 Posted 16 September 2009 I'm getting up in a few hours to lift another 24 tons of chinese students luggage so my brain is trying to think of ways to wake up easier, next to my bed I have a kettle and obviously next to that I have a big jar of coffee, can anybody think of a way that I'd be able to make my own teasmaid? My idea is that I buy some shit alarm clock and somehow connect that to a device which will press down on my kettle to turn it on, THUS CREATING BOILING WATER FOR COFFEEEE. Another idea i had was to get a sound activated switch so when my alarm went off it would start the kettle but i don't think that would work incase I cough in my sleep or something and set it off.
hairy Posted 16 September 2009 Posted 16 September 2009 Easy. Get up when the alarm first sounds. When your first awake rather than snoozing. You'll feel a lot better for it

Bellend Sebastian Posted 16 September 2009 Posted 16 September 2009 I don't know how to make your own teasmaid, but my tip for getting up is to have your alarm clock on the other side of the room rather than by your bed so you have to actually get out of bed to turn it off. The snooze button is NOT YOUR FRIEND. Or maybe the sort of friend that encourages you to be lazy and doesn't have your best interests at heart

Guest Posted 16 September 2009 Posted 16 September 2009 As far as getting up early goes, I set multiple alarms on my phone and my clock, all at about 3 minute intervals so that if I hit snooze on one of them there's not enough time to properly doze off again before the next one goes off. My brain is alos not together enough to go through the menus and cancel the others at that time. Annoying if like me you have to get up at 3am but very effective

Annoying if like me you have to get up at 3am but very effective I have a similarly complex alarm set-up. Except mine involves an alarm clock, my mobile alarm, the (loud) clock radio alarm which is on the opposite side of the room and a wailing cat. Waking up and getting out of bed is still a 'mare. And the snooze button is most definitely my friend (albeit a corrupt, irresponsible friend!) If I could have caffeine intravenously hooked up so I get a shot at about 6.15am, mornings may become (just) bearable.
