Leicester Mercury 125 Fixture

Leicester City Football Club has today announced that the traditional Leicester Mercury themed fixture, will coincide with the club's 125th anniversary fixture.

The Foxes take on Plymouth Argyle on Saturday November 21st, in a 3pm kick-off at the Walkers Stadium, with the home fixture falling closest to the 125th anniversary of the forming of Leicester Fosse in 1884.

The game will see Leicester Mercury readers able to claim discounted tickets through purchasing the newspaper and redeeming vouchers at the club's main ticket office. Former players and legends of the club will be present on the day of the game.

Leicester City Chief Executive, Lee Hoos, said: "The history and heritage of this great club is very important to us all. Leicester City Football Club is the heartbeat of our community and we sincerely hope that the public will join us in celebrating that unique history, whilst looking towards our exciting and hopefully successful future."

Celebrations for this anniversary season are not confined to the Walkers Stadium, or the city itself. Snibston Discovery Museum have announced a partnership with Leicester City Football Club which will see the museum launch an exhibition showcasing the club's history. The exhibition is free to all and will run from Saturday January 16th until Sunday March 21st 2010.

Manager Nigel Pearson said: "Our supporters and the local community are extremely important to the club. This Leicester Mercury discounted ticket offer will help to ensure that more people are able to come to the Plymouth game, support the team and celebrate this club's unique history."

The club have recently run successful events linked to the 125 celebrations, including the Golf Day at Kilworth Springs, followed in the evening by an informal dinner, hosted by Alan Birchenall MBE, with former players Steve Walsh, Ian Marshall, Tony Cottee and Matt Elliott. Both events were attended by hundreds of supporters and sponsors of all ages and as a result, interest is rising in the forthcoming 125 Gala Dinner. This prestigious event will be hosted on Thursday November 26th in the Great Hall of the Walkers Stadium.

Leicester City Chief Executive, Lee Hoos, said: "We looked at the fixture list and reckoned this this one would have the least amount of people willing to come...so we are doing this in an attempt to sell more tickets rather than actually do anything to reward loyal supporters. Basically, it's like this, we couldn't give a flying fuck about the season ticket holders or those who have travelled the country supporting the side - we have their money in the bank. It's all the gullible ones who we are looking to fleece."

:o

There's honesty for you.

Well done Lee.

Here's the deal.

Collect 2 coupons and fill in a form.

ST Holders = O18s £6; U18s £3; U8s £1

The plebs = O18s £10; U18s £4; U8s £1

Having just spent £20 on a ticket I'm not best pleased so they better give me a refund.

Don't think so, picked up tickets for the lady and my housemate in K block so I doubt there'll be any restrictions elsewhere.

So if I want 5 tickets do I need 10 coupons?

Is the offer still available and what days are the coupons/form?

Thanks

You need 10 coupons and 5 forms, that's 15 Mercs. They've been running it from just after this topic was started.

There is one each day except Thursday when they print the form. I can post you a set if you pm me your address.

As to whether you can buy them on the day it doesn't say you can't but I suggest you email the ticket office.

If you ring up the ticket office, they notionally sell you the two copies of the Mercury and then you get your ticket for £10, that what they did when I mentioned I couldn't buy copies of the Mercury where I live
